Delhi School of Economics (DSE): Starts high ROI MBA Programme; FMS Delhi not the only option

Delhi School of Economics has started 2 year full time MBA (International Business) programme in the session 2015 changing the name of its MIB programme.

Poised to excel in providing MBA education and to give good competition to Faculty of Management Studies (FMS) in terms of ROI, Delhi School of Economics (DSE) University of Delhi has started 2 year full time MBA (International Business) programme in the session 2015 changing the name of its MIB programme.

 

Now the candidates seeking admission opportunity in MBA programme 2015-17 at FMS, University of Delhi have one more option to pursue MBA (IB) from Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi. The low fee high placement programme at DSE is all set to become a favourite MBA in its 2015-17 batch with the expectation of yet higher placement due to change in name and curriculum of the programme. 

 

MBA(IB) at Delhi School of Economics in fact is the change of nomenclature to its MIB programme. According to Delhi School of Economics ‘Till last year our course used to be called 'Master of International Business' (MIB) but from this year it has been restructured as Master of Business Administration (MBA) - International Business. It is now one of the two MBA degrees given by DU, the other one being given by FMS.’ While FMS awards MBA, the Delhi School of Economics will award MBA (IB) degree although both will be from University of Delhi.

 

Admission 2015 will see the 21st batch of MBA (IB) programme at Delhi School of Economics. The Department of Commerce at Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi started a one-year full-time Post-graduate Diploma in International Marketing (PGDIM) in the year 1985-86. This programme was well received by trade and industry. The feedback received from various organisations as well as from the alumni prompted the Department to introduce full time two-year MIB (Now changed to MBA (IB). The programme lays special emphasis on aspects of international business operations including global marketing and international financial management.

 

Application process stands closed

 

Online application for MBA (IB) and MBA (HRD) 2015-17 batch at high ROI B school could be submitted till December 15, 2014. The application was supposed to be submitted without CAT 2014 Score and the CAT 2014 score can be submitted latest by January 20, 2015 failing which the applications for admission will not be considered.

 

List of the shortlisted candidates will be displayed on the website www.commercedu.com

 

Shortlisting on CAT 2014 scores

 

Delhi School of Economics is expected to announce the short list of candidates in the last week of January 2015. shortlisting criteria for final admission round at DSE will be based on CAT 2014 scores. A merit list will be drawn based on the CAT 2014 overall percentile for PI round to be held at Delhi. Expected CAT 2014 percentile cut off as per the past shortlisting criteria in 2014 is expected to remain at 92+ for admission 2015.

 

Around 300 to 350 candidates are proposed to be shortlisted by DSE for final admission round 2015.

 

Components of PI round

 

Delhi School of Economics will conduct Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) for the shortlisted candidates. Both the components will have high weightage in final selection lists for the B school. Apart from GD & PI, past academic and professional record will also be taken into account to arrive at the final merit list. While each of these parameters will have great weightage, the same as per the admission policy of DSE is not disclosed by the college.

 

Although exact dates of GD & PI have not been declared by DSE, the GDPI round is expected to begin  in early March 2015. The final merit list for admission 2015 is proposed to be declared in the month of April 2015.

Intake 2015

 

Total seats for MBA programme 2015-17 batch at DSE are 146. Out of this intake 73 will be for MBA (IB) and 73 for MBA (HRD) programme respectively

 

High ROI

 

Return on Investment at DSE is higher than at other B schools. The fee for MBA (IB) and MBA (HRD) at Delhi School of Economics is proposed to be Rs 18,000/- per annum
The average Placement for the MBA programmes remained at Rs. 7.5 Lakhs.
Delhi School of Economics envisages a good rise in placement package in the coming session.

With Delhi School of Economics offering the MBA (IB) on similar lines at a very low fee structure, it is yet to be seen which programme is ranked as the top MBA (IB) offering B school in near future.
