The PI round for MBA admission 2015 at FMS Delhi will commence on April 14 and will continue till April 20, 2015. With the shortlisting cut off criteria of 98.54 percentile in CAT 2014, high score in Personal Interview (PI) round can compensate and make you eligible to get an edge over 99+ percentilers in securing admission offer from this highly ranked B school. Since the competition is close candidates will have to move ahead with a calculated strategy to face the PI round. Please note that final selection at FMS will be based on your cumulative performance in the CAT 2014 examination as well as the PI round.
Category wise PI round
Faculty of Management Studies will conduct the PI round category wise.
General category: 7 slots of PI round each day
Since there are 1023 General category candidates for 101 seats, the final admission round for these candidates will begin on April 14 and will conclude on April 17, 2015.
There will be 7 slots on each day and the candidates will have to report for PI round at the designated hour without any delay as the slots have a gap of only one hour. For example on April 14, 2015 the first slot of PI round will begin at 8.30 AM; second at 9.30AM; third at 10.30 AM; fourth at 12.30PM; fifth at 1.30PM; sixth at 2.30PM and seventh at 3.30PM. As is evident that one slot of PI round will be over in an hour, reaching late may cause missing the bus and facing more inconvenience to get accommodated in some other slot or on some other day.
Out of the total 1023 General Category candidates, PI for 336 candidates will be conducted on each day beginning from April 14 till April 16, 2015. Rest 15 candidates will participate in PI round on April 17, 2015 in the morning session commencing at 8.30 AM.
OBC: 5-7 slots of PI round
A total of 541 OBC category candidates for 54 seats have been shortlisted by FMS for PI round 2015. The Admission interview round (PI round) for these candidates will begin on Saturday April 18, 2015 at 10.30AM and will conclude on April 19, 2015.
There will be 5 slots of PI round comprising 205 candidates on April 18, 2015 beginning with the first batch at 10.30AM; second at 12.30PM; third at 1.30PM; fourth at 2.30PM and fifth at 3.30 PM.
There will be 7 slots of PI round comprising 336 candidates on April 19, 2015 at FMS Delhi. Candidates for the first slot will have to report by 8.30AM; for second slot by 9.30AM; for third slot by 10.30AM; for fourth slot by 12.30PM; for fifth slot by 1.30PM; for sixth slot by 2.30PM and for final seventh slot by 3.30PM. Faculty of Management Studies (FMS) University of Delhi will conclude the PI process for OBC category candidates on April 19, 2015.
FMS: PI for SC & ST category
All the 302 candidates of Scheduled caste (SC) category shortlisted for 30 seats shall have to attend the PI round on April 17 in seven slots beginning at 8.30AM and concluding with the PI session at 3.30 PM on the same day.
The PI session for 150 Scheduled Tribe (ST) category candidates for an intake of 15 seats will be held on 2 days i.e. April 17 at 3.30PM and on April 18, 2015 the PI will begin at 8.30AM.
PWD & CW category candidates
FMS Delhi will conduct Personal Interview round for 52 PWD category candidates for an intake of 6 seats on April 20, 2015 and will conclude it on the same day.
The PI round for 100 candidates belonging to CW category candidates for an intake of 10 seats will also begin at 9.30AM on April 20, 2015 and will be concluded on the same day.
PI only at Delhi
FMS conducts its PI round at Delhi and the candidates shortlisted for final admission round have to come to North Campus of Delhi University, if they wish to participate in PI at FMS.
NO GD/WAT in Personal Interview (PI) round
There is no Written Ability Test (WAT) or Group Discussion (GD) round in the Personal Interview process for MBA admission 2015 at FMS Delhi.
Extempore replaces GD
The Group Discussion (GD) round has been replaced by ‘Extempore’ speech round of 2-3 minutes at FMS Delhi. The topic of Extempore speech could be anything under the Sun. Candidates should read well the editorials in the news papers, keep themselves updated with the surroundings and should practice well to improve their speaking style. Prof S K Agarwal Expert on Verbal Ability and mentor on CAT preparation suggests the candidates to practice speaking standing before the mirror. They should be confident while speaking and the content should be good also.
The Personal Interview
The Personal Interview process at FMS is relaxed, short and easy going as the members in the interview panel behave in an informal manner. They hardly ever check any testimonials or documents. The PI process aims to assess each candidate on overall performance and the way he/she behaves during the PI round.
Final results: Expect on last day of PI
The final result with admission offer at FMS Delhi may not be delayed and is expected to be declared on the same day when the PI process gets over. Accordingly the final MBA admission result is expected to be declared on April 20, 2015. The academic session 2015-16 is expected to commence on time. FMS Delhi has the legacy of ongoing and time bound process at FMS. Usually, the results are always declared on the last day of the interview itself, sometimes quite late in the night. FMS Interview Panels actually have no clue about the Test Scores of the candidates; the sealed CD containing the Test Scores of all short-listed candidates arrives from the "Secrecy" section of the University of Delhi only when all candidates' interviews are over. Then the Test Score data are merged with the Extempore + Interview Scores data and a category-wise Merit List and Waiting Lists are prepared and are declared on the last date of the interview.
In fact the ranks of selected candidates were never revealed, as these are the alphabetical lists created to avoid any 'preconceived notion' about the relative 'quality' of the candidates admitted in a session.
