IIM Ranchi Placements 2015: Marked increase in Average salary; more recruiters making diverse offers

The fog of economic slowdown in MBA placement is getting cleared as the placement reports 2015 from B schools reflect a rising trend in highest, average and median salary packages.

Maintaining the upward trend, the placement season 2015 at IIM Ranchi the 9th Indian Institute of Management has seen a rise in average salary to Rs.13.4 lakhs for the PGDM class 2013-15 despite the largest batch size among new IIMs. According to IIM Ranchi with the increase in the batch size from 111 to 152 this year, highest amongst the new IIMs established, numbers of companies also increased significantly.

136 recruiters at IIM Ranchi participated in placement 2015 including 45 first time recruiters making suitable offers to 194 students of PGDM and PGDHRM batch 2013-15. The placement 2015 has highlighted the confidence of industry and corporate sector on the management education imparted at IIM Ranchi.

Announcing the successful completion of final placement season for the PGDM and PGDHRM batches of 2013-15, IIM Ranchi this year has reached one step ahead in establishing a strong foothold as being one of the premier B schools in the country.

Largest Batch size There were 152 students from the PGDM batch and 42 from PGDHRM batch seeking placement 2015 in comparison to the lower batch sizes among other new IIMs. 2 students opted out of placement process while all others were offered suitable placement offers from the recruiters at good compensation packages.

Average Salary up

Beating the slowdown in placement offers, the placement season 2015 at IIM Ranchi saw a rise in Average salary to Rs. 13.4 lakhs for PGDM batch and Rs.12.6 lakhs for PGDHRM batch. The highest domestic salary offered to the PGDM batch was Rs.27 lakhs while it was Rs.17 lakhs for PGDHRM batch.

Highest International offers stood at Rs.55 lakhs. 3 students of IIM Ranchi got international placement.

Rise in PPOs

Pre placement offers (PPOs) also saw an upward trend. 30 students were offered PPOs (Pre-Placement Offers) from their summer internships. According to IIM Ranchi The number of PPOs and PPIs also went up by a substantial number showing a great deal of industry confidence in the students of IIM Ranchi.

Function-wise placement

General Management emerged as the highest recruiting function with 24% of the batch getting placed in it. Consulting contributed 20% and finance 16% followed by Sales & Marketing and technology with 15% each. Operations and Analytics had a share of 5% each in placement 2015 at IIM Ranchi.

The Final Recruitment process 2015 at IIM Ranchi saw active participation from 136 recruiters including 45 new recruiters making more offers. While 106 recruiters offered placement to PGDM students, 30 recruiters offered placement to PGDHRM batch.

About IIM Ranchi

IIM Ranchi was established in 2010 and is the 9th in the IIM Family. It is the only IIM offering a specialized PGDHRM course. The B school currently offers a two year PGDM in General management and another two year fulltime programme on Human Resources Management (PGDHRM), Fellow Program in Management and 18 month part time Diploma in Management (PGEXP).
