CAT 2015: Registration confusions in last 3 days; be clear and avoid petty mistakes

CAT 2015 Registration process is running in its last lap and will come to close on September 20, 2015 at 11.59PM after remaining open for 46 days. CAT 2015 aspirants who wish to explore admission to one of the IIMs and ready to register but are unable to understand the various eligibility criteria, guidelines and the online process are getting stuck on petty items and are makeing avoidable mistakes in registration process due to which they are neither able to enter relevant information nor are able to make payment while the last date of registration for CAT 2015 is about to arrive after 3 days.

Eligibility confusions
Eligibility criteria for CAT 2015 have been described well on CAT 2015 website. Many candidates are still getting confused on various aspects of eligibility and what they should enter in the relevant column. MBAUniverse.com shares the same to enable the candidates to get rid of the confusions

1. If you have completed your bachelor’s degree but have a backlog, you can register and apply for CAT 2015.

2. If you have to appear in supplementary re-examination to complete the graduation degree you are eligible to register and apply for CAT 2015.

3.The only condition is that you should be able to score the required percentage of 50% marks (General category) and 45% for other categories.

4. Select Yes to the question –‘Are you in the final year of Bachelor Degree’ while completing the CAT 2015 registration form.

5.  submit a certificate latest by June 30, 2016 from the Principal/Registrar of the college/institute (issued on or before June 30, 2016) stating that you have completed all the requirements including appearing for supplementary exams. Results may be awaited.

6. candidates belonging to categories for which seats are reserved need to note and read the eligibility requirements carefully before applying.  No change in the category will be entertained after the closure of registration window.

7. A copy of the Reserved Category certificate(s) must be uploaded at the time of CAT Application online. Failure to upload a copy of the caste/class certificate will result in the rejection of your CAT registration.

Scanned images of photo & Signature; size confusions

1. CAT 2015 has made it mandatory to upload your scanned passport photo and signature at the time of registration.

2. The photo and signature apart from being kept in record with the CAT Centre 2015 are proposed to be used on your digital admit cards, the prints of which you will have to take from your mail on receipt of the same. Please note, it will be a mandatory document to appear in CAT 2015.

3. Scanned image of Passport size photo with the dimensions 35mm X 45mm along with the scanned image of your signature with the dimensions 1000mm X 35 mm is required to be uploaded at the time of registration for CAT 2015. Please note that the documents file format should be .jpg or .jpeg and the file size should not be more than 80KB each. The image should be clear with a minimum resolution of 150px.

Mistakes in details of Academics

1. Details of educational qualification will be required to be entered beginning from results of class 10 to the highest qualification with year of passing, marks obtained, percentage of marks, correct name of the Board/University/Institute. It will be better to note down the entire information well before starting the registration process.

2. There could be 2 options under Bachelor’s/graduation degree; complete or incomplete. Please enter the data accordingly. If you opt for incomplete, the number of completed years and average/aggregate marks will be required to be filled up till the last completed year.

3. IIMs include Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration to commerce/economics, so you may not find the name of this course in the drop down menu and therefore include it in above. Similarly degree in Biotech engineering may have separate option and you will be required to select science as the option.

Confusing Programmes of IIMs; how to enter

1. Prepare a list jotting down the programmes and the 19 IIMs as per your preference before going to register and apply for CAT 2015

2. You will be required to enter the programmes for which you wish to be considered for admission after CAT 2015. The programme names and institutes have already been displayed in the notification.  To avoid any confusion and time wastage, write down the details so that the same can be entered quickly.

Choose 4 test cities accessible to you

You are required to enter the 4 preferred test cities out of 136. So make sure about these testing cities and then enter the same from drop down menu during registration process. The test centre, date and session shall be advised to you with your admit card which will be available on your email.

Select PI city with clarity

1. CAT 2015 has provided the opportunity to the aspirants to choose the interview city at the time of registration.  The Interview City can be selected from the respective drop down list.

2. Candidates applying for PGP/PGDM courses at the following IIMs should select the same interview city for all the selections- 1) IIM Kashipur, 2) IIM Raipur, 3) IIM Ranchi, 4) IIM Rohtak, 5) IIM Tiruchirappalli, 6) IIM Udaipur

3. If you have selected the PGP course at IIM Ranchi and the PGP course at IIM  Kashipur, your interview city should be the same, say Delhi, from the given choices (Chennai, Bangalore, Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai) for both the courses.

Don’t pay till satisfied

1. Pay after verifying the registration data inserted by you. In case you commit any mistake during the registration or application process, your money would go down the drain.

2. CAT 2015 has placed the exercise of making the on-line payment as the last step of filling up the form. This change will enable the aspirants to review the accuracy of the filled up details in their application form before making the payment.

Rectify the Errors during registration
You may select “Existing User Login” on CAT 2015 website to make changes to your personal details, such as address, educational information or exam city preferences. For security reasons, editing of candidate’s full name, date of birth, email id, mobile no and Country will not be allowed.

Don’t submit till you complete
If you click on submit button you will not be able to rectify any errors made during registration process. So please do not click on submit button till you are satisfied that you have entered the correct data.

The ability to edit application profile will be available only until you have not submitted the Application Form. Once you have submitted and made the payment, you will not be allowed to make any more changes. You may only view and print thereafter.

CAT 2015 registration: Important points

1. Once you create a profile after login as new user on ‘Register now’ and receive your system generated User ID and Password as SMS and on mail, next login should be as ‘existing user’ with the received ID & Password

2. In a few minutes of submitting the Registration Form, you will receive a User ID on the registered email with the subject line CAT 2015 Login Details. Ensure to check your mailbox immediately and in case you don’t find it there also check the spam mail.

3. Keep the entire information ready before filling up the application form

4. The work experience is to be entered in completed months until 31st July 2015

5. You will not be allowed to continue, if mandatory information is not filled or the required Certificates, scanned images of photographs, signature are not uploaded

6. If you forget your password, you may click on the Forgot Password button on the Existing  User login window. The new password will be sent in an email, and not as an SMS.

7. Once you have completed the last section, i.e. Payment, your application to CAT 2015 is considered complete and you will receive a confirmation mail. After this, changes to any information on the application form are not possible

8.  While verifying the Captcha Please see that all the letters and numbers are properly entered without any confusion. Check for the ‘Caps lock’ on/off. Check for the ‘numlock’. Leave no space between two words and letters.
