IIM Udaipur: Admission criteria to award 24% weightage to profile; PI & WAT lag behind with 21%
IIM Udaipur has clarified that it would award 24% weightage to profile and 21% to PI and WAT while finalizing the selection of candidates
Announcing the admission policy for its PGP Batch 2016-18 IIM Udaipur has clarified that it would award 24% weightage to profile and 21% to PI and WAT while finalizing the selection of candidates. The minimum qualifying CAT 2015 score to get shortlisted by IIM Udaipur is 90. It will be the 6th PGP batch with the proposed intake of 180 students that will commence in July 2016. CAT 2015 is the mandatory exam to get shortlisted by IIM Udaipur at the first stage and to appear in Written Ability test and Personal Interview process. There will not be any Group Discussion round for admission to IIM Udaipur for the PGP batch 2016-18.
Admission policy of IIM Udaipur also proposes to increase the academic and gender diversity in its class rooms. The selection process at IIM Udaipur will take into consideration the candidates performance in CAT 2015, performance in Personal Interview (PI) and Written Analysis Test (WAT), academic record, gender and relevant work experience.The criteria that would be used at the first stage of shortlisting at IIM Udaipur to select candidates for Personal Interview and Written Analysis Test (PI & WAT) would be as under
Shortlisting Criteria for PI & WAT IIM Udaipur will use CAT 2015 percentile for short listing candidates for Personal appearance which will have the components of Personal Interview (PI) & Written Aability Test (WAT). The minimum performance expected from candidates to be shortlisted for the PI & WAT is detailed below.

Common Admission Process (CAP) The six new IIMs namely Kashipur, Raipur, Ranchi, Rohtak, Trichy and Udaipur have decided to adopt a common process of WA&PI to be coordinated this year by IIM Kashipur. In case any of the older IIMs (Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Indore, Kozhikode, and Lucknow) are willing to share their WA & PI score with the six new IIMs, the common candidates who have applied to new IIMs, need not to appear for WA & PI process separately, else they have to appear. The common candidates will be intimated the names of older IIMs sharing WA & PI scores with new IIMs.
The Personal Interview and Written Analysis Test would be conducted at New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai and Kolkata. The exact date for PI & WAT will be communicated to the short-listed candidates by IIM Kashipur which is co-ordinating the admission process for 2016-18 batch.
In addition to the six new IIMs mentioned above, IIMs at Amritsar, Sambalpur and Bodh Gaya are also likely to join the combined PI & WAT process. In case of additional IIMs joining the process, candidates would be informed accordingly.
Award of weightages in Final selection IIM Udaipur proposes to use following parameters and corresponding weightages to arrive at the composite score of the candidates, which will be used to prepare the final merit list for admissions.
CAT 2015 score: 55% weightage Higher the sectional and overall percentile in CAT 2015 more will be the weightage awarded to the candidates. A higher CAT 2015 percentile may also compensate the low scored obtained in profile based weightages.
PI round 21% weightage Written Analysis Test (WAT): 6 per cent weightage. The candidate is expected to have good Vocabulary, content of writing and writing skills
Personal Interview(PI): 15 per cent weightage: The candidate will be assessed for Communication, attitude and personality; academic efforts and disposition; Managerial and leadership attributes; social awareness and disposition; overall presence
Work experience: 6% weightage The maximum weightage of 6% will be awarded to the candidates having a work experience between 25 to 36 months. No weighatge will be awarded to the candidates with a work experience of 6 months or less and 60 months or more.
Academic Performance: 8% weightage Candidates with more than 92% marks in Class 10 and 12 will be awarded a weightage of 2% for each class and for undergraduation the weightage is 4%
Academic diversity: 5% weightage Differential weightages shall be applied to different disciplines to account for the degree of difficulty in scoring in different disciplines. Maximum weightage of 5% will be awarded to non-engineers like the candidates with Arts & Commerce background.
Gender Diversity: 5% weightage Girl candidates seeking admission opportunity at IIM Udaipur will be awarded 5% weightage. There is no clarification whether any weightage will be awarded to newly accepted third gender named as transgender. No weightage will be awarded to male candidates.
