XAT 2016: Registration closes tomorrow on Dec 10; apply today to avoid last minute rush

One of the most favourite and largest management entrance tests XAT 2016 will be closing its online registration and application process tomorrow on December 10, 2015. XLRI Jamshedpur the XAT 2016 conducting institute has already provided with 10 more days to register for the exam and extended the last date to apply from November 30 to December 10, 2015. Candidates desirous of appearing in XAT 2016 should register and apply today instead of waiting for the last minute tomorrow in order to avoid any unanticipated technical glitch that may arise due to last day rush on XAT 2016 website.
Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) 2016 is the second largest management entrance test after CAT and is expected to be taken by 70000 to 90000 candidates in a single session. The test will be held in paper pen mode on January 3, 2016 from 10Am to 1.30PM in 47 test cities in India. XAT 2016 is the gateway to 148 highly ranked B schools in India including XLRI, XIMB, SPJIMR, IMT among others. A high score in XAT 2016 may get you shortlisted for next round of admission process at one of the top rated B schools in the country.
Registration for XAT 2016 was opened on September 4, 2015. Registration process for XAT 2016 is online however the payment of registration fee can be made online or in cash or by demand draft. XAT 2016 registration and application fee has been increased to Rs.1500/- from Rs.1000/- in XAT 2015. Those who wish to apply for XLRI programmes need to pay an additional fee of Rs.250/- for each programme.
Avoid last day rush; save time
Registration and application process to XAT 2016 will now close on Dec 10, 2015. Since the registration process for other exam like AICTE-CMAT 2016 is also closing on Dec 10, it is expected there would be more rush on the last day of registration. Although all the arrangement have been made by XLRI to keep the registration process glitch free despite the great rush on last day, the experience shows that problems like consumption of more time in the process; payments getting stuck in transit; registration page not getting opened or uploading of photograph and signature becoming difficult become rampant in the last minute rush.
Experts advise to finalise the online registration for XAT 2016 today instead of waiting for tomorrow to avoid wastage of time and unanticipated problem in money transaction.
Registration process: Key points
-- Registration to XAT 2016 is online process
-- First part of registration is to be completed by creating the candidate profile
-- After receiving the XAT 2016 ID. All the further steps will have to be completed with XAT ID and password
-- The application form can be accessed by login with XAT ID and will have to completed step by step.
-- If you are interested to apply for XLRI, select the programme of your choice out of Business Management (BM); Human Resource Management (HRM); Global Business Management (GBM) and General Management Programme (GMP). If you are not interested to apply to any of the XLRI programmes, you can skip this step.
-- You are required to provide details of work experience. If you are interested to apply to XLRI GMP, you need to have a minimum work experience of 5 years till March 31, 2016.
-- Keep the information ready to complete the process smoothly. You will need all your academic details right from class X onwards; scanned copy of photo and signature of prescribed size among others.
-- XAT 2016 registration fee is Rs.1500/- (increased by Rs.500/- from last year XAT). There would be 3 payment modes to pay the XAT 2016 registration and application fee namely Online fee payment through net banking/credit/debit cards; by demand draft or by cash payment at IDBI bank. You can choose any of them.
-- After completion of registration and application you will get the confirmation. You are supposed to print this XAT 2016 confirmation page for your reference. In future for all correspondence with XAT office, quote your XAT ID.
Eligibility criteria
XAT 2016 aspirants must have recognized bachelors degree of minimum 3 years duration or equivalent in any discipline. Those completing their final graduation exam by June 10, 2016 may also apply. XAT 2016 is the mandatory exam for admission to member and associate B-schools for Indian candidates, the NRI and foreign candidates may apply through their valid GMAT scores.
Candidates in Dubai and Kathmandu have the option of appearing in XAT 2016 or applying through GMAT scores.

The format of XAT would remain pen-paper based. However significant changes have been announced in the test structure and contents for XAT 2016. Not only number of questions in XAT 2016 has been reduced but also difficulty level has also been reduced. It will provide more opportunities with higher scores in the exam. Candidates would be able to explore admission opportunities in top B-schools after scoring high in XAT 2016. The paper-pen mode in XAT also ensures that all candidates are tested on exactly the same set of questions, and not on different sets.
XLRI has been conducting XAT on behalf of XAMI for the last 60 years at All India level in the paper pen mode to provide level playing field for the XAT aspirants coming from all backgrounds. The three and half hours test XAT 2016 will have 2 parts. The first part will be over in 170 minutes and after a break of 5 minutes second part with time duration 35 minutes would begin.
XAT 2016 will be divided between Objective MCQs and subjective Essay Writing tests. XAT 2016 test takers will have to complete the first 3 sections of the first part of the MCQ exam namely Verbal and Logical Ability; Decision Making; Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation in 170 minutes while questions in General Knowledge section will have to be attempted in 10 minutes only. 25 minutes will separately be allotted for essay writing test.
