CAT 2015: Two 100 percentilers from Madhya Pradesh are from Engineering background; Non-engineers yet to hit the goal

CAT 2015 result declared on Friday evening brought with it proud moment to Prateek Bajpai of Indore and V K Giri of Bhopal who scored a perfect 100 percentile. Prateek the 100 percentiler in CAT 2015 helped his city to maintain the legacy of scoring 100 percentile in CAT for a consecutive second year. Last year Harshveer Jain scored 100 percentile in CAT. Indore may now hope for another 100 percentiler in CAT 2016.

It is a great achievement for Madhya Pradesh that both Prateek and Giri scoring 100 percentile in CAT 2015 belong to this state.

While Prateek is an engineering graduate from Civil Engineering branch V K Giri is from Electrical Engineering background. The CAT 2015 convener and faculty IIM Ahmedabad Prof Tathagata Bandyopadhyay while convening CAT 2015 made it a point that more candidates from non-engineering background should join IIMs. But it appears that most of the 100 percentilers in CAT 2015 are from engineering back ground as were there in last year CAT which saw the first girl 100 percentiler creating history in CAT result.

There were 16 cadndidates in CAT 2014 scoring 100 percentile and this number was the highest as compared to earlier CAT exams. CAT 2015 result is expected to have crossed the past years record of 100 percentilers although official announcement from CAT 2015 convening IIM is yet to come on the number of candidates scoring 100 ;percentile in CAT 2015.

CAT 2015 exam was held on Nov 29, 2015 for admission to PGDM/MBA 2016-18 programme in premier B schools like 19 IIMs, FMS, MDI, SPJIMR, IMI, IMT, FORE, NITIE, TAPMI among others.

To improve academic and gender diversity in IIM class rooms, pattern of CAT 2015 exam was also changed. It is expected that more candidates from non-engineering back ground might have scored 100 percentile in CAT 2015.
