Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurgaon recently organised its first HR Conclave. The event, titled “Reinventing HR: An Extreme Makeover”, took place in Gurgaon on February 6 and brought together many industry leaders under one roof for a healthy, open exchange of ideas to chart the future course of the HR industry.

The HR Conclave 2016 saw the participation of Dr Shalini Lal, Director–HR, Deutsche Bank, as the Chief Guest. Other prominent names that participated in the HR Conclave 2016 included Mr Kamlesh Vyas (Director, EY), Mr Muninder Anand (Associate Director, People & Change – KPMG), Mr Bimal Rath (Founder and Managing Director, Think Talent Services), Mr Prakash Rao (Vice President & Head-mpHRO, PeopleStrong HR Services) and Ms Ester Martinez (CEO and Editor-in-Chief, People Matters) amongst others.

Speaking on the event, Prof. Sumita Rai ,Chairperson PGHR, MDI, said, “Human Resources are the most vital elements to the long-term success of any business, and the need for HRM in today’s rapidly changing business environment cannot be stressed enough. As such, there is an urgent need to reinvent the approach to Human Resource Management, which is why we organised this event. With many key takeaways and viable measures discussed, we are confident that the HR industry will reinvent itself to meet the demands of the new-age businesses.”

Organised with an aim to discuss possible measures to add more value to the HR functions by radically altering the traditional approach, the HR Conclave 2016 opened with a welcome address by Professor Sumita Rai (Chairperson – PGP-HRM, MDI Gurgaon), followed by a Director’s address by Professor (Dr) C. P. Shrimali (Acting Director, MDI Gurgaon) and the inaugural address by the Chief Guest, Dr Shalini Lal. Sessions on ‘Need to re-skill HR - Changing the face of HRM’ and ‘HR makeover to deliver greater business impact and drive innovation’ kick-started the event and were followed with a panel discussion on ‘Changing phase of HR Systems & Process’.
