If DTE accepts MAT May 2016 exam scores in its CAP round, it may lead to the admission in JBIMS and other highly ranked B schools also like SIMSREE, K J Somaiya, N L Dalmiya, PUMBA among others
The allotment to these seats shall be through CAP on the basis of score of Management Aptitude Test Conducted by All India Management Association (MAT) DTE Notification RNI No. MAHBIL /2009/37831 dated March 11, 2016

Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS) Mumbai has already announced that it would offer admission to the flagship MMS 2016-18 programme through Centralized Admission Process to be conducted by DTE Maharashtra for all the participating B-schools in the State. Accordingly, if DTE accepts MAT May 2016 exam scores in its CAP round, it may lead to the admission in JBIMS and other highly ranked B-schools also like SIMSREE, K J Somaiya, N L Dalmiya, PUMBA among others.

DTE to accept MAT scores
Directorate of Technical Education, (DTE) Government of Maharashtra while announcing the PG rules for admission to MBA/MMS/PGDM programmes in Maharashtra has also clarified vide its notification ref RNI No. MAHBIL /2009/37831 dated March 11, 2016 ‘The allotment to these seats shall be through CAP on the basis of score of- Percentile score of CET conducted by the Competent Authority, Graduate Management Aptitude Test Conducted by Graduate Management Admission Council, United State of America (GMAT), Common Admission Test conducted by Indian Institute of Management (CAT), Management Aptitude Test Conducted by All India Management Association (MAT), entrance Test for Management Admissions conducted by The Association of Indian Management Schools (ATMA), Xavier Aptitude Test conducted by Xavier School of Management Jamshedpur (XAT) and Common Management Aptitude Test Conducted by All India Council for Technical Education (CMAT).’

Broadly it implies that it may accept May MAT 2016 scores as the CAP 2016 process is yet to begin and any improvement in scores can be furnished by the candidate while appearing in the admission process.

Which MAT accepted? DTE silent
While other entrance exams, scores of which are acceptable by DTE Maharashtra are once in a year exam, MAT and GMAT are the exams which are conducted many times in one year. The frequency of GMAT is even more than MAT which is conducted 4 times in a year namely September, December, February and May. Since the admission process in almost all the B-schools is closed much before September, the May MAT stands as the last entrance for the same year.

No need to apply separately to JBIMS
The best thing about the CAP round is that once you are allotted the B-school of your choice, you will have to directly deposit the requisite fee in the B-school. All the application formalities are completed during the CAP round and later on your documents are submitted at the B-school allotted to you.

If you are allotted JBIMS Mumbai on the basis of your MAT May 2016 scores, you do not have to apply separately to JBIMS. All the formalities would be completed in one instance only.

High probability to accept May MAT 2016 score
You will need to submit your MAT score during CAP round and the probability is high that May MAT 2016 scores would also be accepted by JBIMS as the admission to this B-school will be finalised through CAP round only.

Although DTE has confirmed that it would accept MAT scores in CAP round for admission to all the top rated B-schools including JBIMS, it has not clarified whether it would accept May MAT 2016 scores or would restrict it to Feb MAT 2016 scores. It is anticipated that your current MAT scores may also be considered for admission to JBIMS, Mumbai.

If you have improved on your earlier MAT scores in May MAT 2016 exam, you may get the better opportunity.

CAP Registration mandatory
If you have registered for MAHCET 2016 but did not appear in the exam, there is no worry as your candidature is still open for admission, provided you have taken at least one acceptable MBA entrance examination like CAT/MAT/ CMAT/XAT.

You may submit your current MAT 2016 May score and seek the approval from the DTE whether the same are acceptable.

CAP dates not announced: May get another chance
It can be a boon for the May MAT 2016 test takers as the dates for CAP 2016 round are yet to be announced by DTE Maharashtra. It is very much possible that like last year DTE may offer another chance to register for CAP round. If it happens MAT 2016 May exam takers would get great benefits.

Top B-schools in CAP 2016: Expected MAT 2016 cut offs
Apart from JBIMS, there are more than 400 B-schools in Maharashtra in which admission will be done through DTE-CAP round. If MAT May 2016 scores are accepted in CAP round, following cut offs may apply for admission to MMS/MBA 2016-18 programmes-
