400 Maharashtra B schools to accept MAT 2016 Feb & May exam score; DTE clarifies on CAP round

The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) Maharashtra vide its earlier notification ref RNI No. MAHBIL /2009/37831 dated March 11, 2016 made it clear that MAT Feb 2016 scores are acceptable in Centralized Admission process (CAP) 2016 and now with the opening of registration for CAP 2016, DTE has further revised its registration form simply asking for MAT 2016 scores instead of only MAT Feb 2016 percentile.

All with MAT 2016 scores eligible to apply
According to the registration form provided by DTE Maharashtra in which candidates should complete their All India Exam details, now it needs MAT 2016 scores and not only MAT 2016 Feb or May scores. The candidates who appeared in MAT exam in Feb as well as May 2016 will be eligible to participate in CAP 2016 leading to admission in MBA/MMS/PGDM 2016-18 programmes in more than 400 Maharashtra B-schools. New candidates who wish to register for CAP 2016 being conducted by DTE Maharashtra from May 25 to June 3, 2016 should immediately apply online without waiting any further.

DTE has shared the necessary application fee for the new registrations also. There is an intake of around 59000 candidates in 400 plus B-schools of Maharashtra. If you have registered and applied for MAHCET 2016 or with to apply as a new candidate, in both cases you can apply either as Already registered candidate or as a New candidate. The application fee is Rs.1000/- for All India candidates as well for Maharashtra State candidates except for certain reserved categories whose registration fee for CAP 2016 is Rs.800/-. If you apply even now, you may get one of the top rated B-schools in Maharashtra on the basis of your MAT 2016 scores.

All India candidates to benefit with MBA/MMS Admission rules
Clarifying the acceptability of various exam scores including MAT 2016 for admission to MBA/MMS programme to All India Candidature Candidates, DTE Maharashtra has shared ‘The allotment to these seats shall be through CAP on the basis of score of- Percentile score of CET conducted by the Competent Authority, Graduate Management Aptitude Test Conducted by Graduate Management Admission Council, United State of America (GMAT), Common Admission Test conducted by Indian Institute of Management (CAT), Management Aptitude Test Conducted by All India Management Association (MAT), entrance Test for Management Admissions conducted by The Association of Indian Management Schools (ATMA), Xavier Aptitude Test conducted by Xavier School of Management Jamshedpur (XAT) and Common Management Aptitude Test Conducted by All India Council for Technical Education (CMAT).’

With all made clear by DTE Maharashtra, now candidates seeking MBA/MMS/PGDM admission on the basis of national level entrance exams to JBIMS, SIMSREE, N L Dalmiya, K J Somaiya, among other 400 B-schools can expect to grab a seat to their preferred B-school in Maharashtra.

CAP from May 25 to June 3
Dates for CAP 2016 for admission to MBA/MMS/PGDM 2016-18 have been announced by DTE Maharashtra on its website with complete information shared officially by DTE in this regard.

Expected cut offs for top B-schools
Since DTE Maharashtra would accept almost all the National Level MBA entrance tests in CAP 2016 for admission to all the 400+ B schools in Maharashtra including JBIMS, following cut-off may be applied in top B-schools for different exams

Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS) Mumbai has already announced that it would offer admission to the flagship MMS 2016-18 programme through CAP 2016.

Participation in CAP through Registration
If you have registered for MAHCET 2016 but did not appear in the exam, there is no worry as your candidature is still open for admission, provided you have taken at least one acceptable MBA entrance examination like CAT/MAT/ CMAT/XAT. If you have not registered for MAHCET 2016 but are able to register for CAP round by paying the requisite fee, you can participate in CAP 2016.

You may submit your current entrance test score and can participate in Centralized Admission Process for admission to MBA/MMS/PGDM programmes on the basis of CAT/MAT/CMAT/ XAT/ATMA scores apart from MAHCET 2016 as all exam scores are acceptable for admission in 400 B-schools of Maharashtra.
