3 days left to seek admission chances in JBIMS & other top B schools; CAP 2016 closing June 3

Last year candidates had to apply separately to JBIMS but for MMS admission 2016 there is no need to apply separately to JBIMS as the candidate will now be allotted the seat in the B-school through the CAP round.

Registration for MAHCET CAP 2016 is going to close on June 3 and as such only 3 days are left to finalise your registration for admission to JBIMS Mumbai and other 400 B-schools of Maharashtra through CAP 2016. Candidates with scores obtained in any of the All India MBA entrance exams or in MAHCET 2016, can be allotted a seat in JBIMS or other top rated B-school.

JBIMS Mumbai has already announced that it will offer admission to its flagship MMS 2016-18 programme only through Centralized Admission Process (CAP) being conducted by DTE Maharashtra. There are more than 400 B-schools having a total intake of 59000 candidates in Maharashtra where admission will be offered only through CAP round.

JBIMS admission with de-reservation policy The de-reservation policy at JBIMS Mumbai shall brighten the chances for all the candidates exploring admission opportunity in the B-school. JBIMS Mumbai follows the de-reservation policy implying conversion of reserved seats into open for all candidates. The policy allows that all the open or other category candidates will be considered for admission at JBIMS in case suitable candidates for the reserved 60 seats do not take admission in JBIMS.

JBIMS Mumbai has an intake of 120 seats for MMS and 30 for M Sc Finance for the batch 2016-18.

Out of the intake of 120 MMS seats 60 seats are reserved for all backward class category students only from State of Maharashtra and 60 Seats are open for both eligible Maharashtra State and outside Maharashtra State candidates. Backward class category students from States other than Maharashtra are also covered under the Open category. According to JBIMS, De-reservation policy (conversion of reserved seats into open for all) will be applicable in dearth of suitable candidates for seats reserved.

JBIMS now an autonomous institute In the academic session 2015-16, JBIMS Mumbai was granted the status of autonomous institute affiliated to Mumbai University. Although the B schools accepted MAHCET scores but it conducted its own Personal Interview (PI) round and was not a part of Centralized Admission Process (CAP) conducted by DTE Maharashtra. Besides, JBIMS launched its own admission application process which was closed much earlier than DTE issued notification for MAHCET exam. Not only this, for last year admission JBIMS did not accept CMAT/MAT/ATMA etc scores. Only CAT and MH-CET scores were considered as the qualifying exams for admission to JBIMS.

The process has changed for admission 2016-18. All the scores are acceptable as JBIMS has announced Admission for Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Mumbaifor two years Masters in Management Studies (MMS) programme will be done through Centralised Admission Process (CAP) of Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Government of Maharashtra.

CAP 2016: Process to close on June 3 Whether you are an already registered candidate or a new candidates, you can register only till June 3, 2016. You must have appeared in one of the specified exams, only then you will be able to apply for admission through CAP.

After submitting the application online, you will be called for in-person assessment at one of 217 Facilitation Centres (FCs) and will be scored on the basis of the performance in Centralized Admission Process (CAP).

The evaluation criteria will take into account the complete personality of the candidate, which includes various parameters like score in the exam; extra-curricular activities and other significant achievements.

Work experience is also a component of the CAP round but if a fresher has other substantial credentials, he/she can cover up in other parameters. Work-experience alone would not be the deciding criteria.
