CAT 2016: Notification in July last week; be prepared for innovative exam

Notification for CAT 2016 exam convened by IIM Bangalore is proposed to be released in the last week of July. The largest MBA entrance test is expected to be full of many changes and surprises making the forthcoming CAT 2016 as the first of its kind of examination during past many years.

TCS will remain the testing partner for CAT 2016. The exam is proposed to be conducted in the month of October or November. High sectional and overall percentile in CAT 2016 will provide admission opportunity in 20 IIMs and other highly ranked B-schools in the country.

CAT in totally revamped mode
The total overhaul of CAT began in 2015 when IIM Ahmedabad convened the exam. Although CAT 2016 convener Prof Rajendra K Bandi, faculty IIM Bangalore is a little tight lipped, last year CAT convener Prof Tathagata Bandyopadhyay, faculty at IIM Ahmedabad had always tried to pacify the level of anxiety among the CAT aspirants.

He informed months before about the date of official release of CAT notification, prospective changes in the exam and what was the thought process of IIMs behind overhauling the test structure and exam content of CAT.

Notification with all details
CAT 2016 notification will be released in leading news papers along with all the details regarding CAT 2016 exam like opening and closing of CAT 2016 registration date, issue of admit card, application fee, exam dates and number of test centres.
There will be many firsts in the notification including
-- CAT 2016 testing window-whether it will be a single day or multiple days exam with number of sessions
-- Key eligibility criteria to appear in the exam. Last year CAT allowed the candidates with 2 years of university recognized graduate degree in old pattern as eligible to appear in the exam.
-- Information about the number of test cities, option to choose the test centre might also be shared by IIM Bangalore in the CAT 2016 notification.
Common Admission Test (CAT) 2016 is the mandatory exam for admission to flagship post graduate management programme in 20 IIMs and other top rated B schools for the academic session beginning 2017. At present there are 20 IIMs and the 20th one the IIM Jammu will start functioning from August 1, 2016 under the mentorship of IIM Lucknow.

Registration to open in Aug 1st week
Common Admission Test (CAT) 2016 registration will open in the first week of August 2016 and will continue till late September 2016. CAT 2016 does not propose to offer any facility of Off- line registration and all the registration related activity shall have to be completed on-line only.
