Continuing to accept CAT 2016 exam scores for admission to MBA 2017-19, Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), University of Delhi has announced big changes in its admission 2017 process introducing to award varying sectional weightage to CAT 2016 percentile scores, as one of the key 1st stage shortlisting criteria.

CAT 2016 test takers, applying to FMS Delhi admission 2017 will be in for a different shortlisting & selection process which in view of Dr M. L. Singla Dean FMS Delhi, has been changed from the previous year to increase the number of women and non-engineering back ground students in its class rooms. Responding to the queries from MBAUniverse.com, Dr Singla, shares the rationale and specific reasons behind the changes introduced in the FMS Admission 2017 process. Excerpts from the MBAUniverse.com interview with Dr M L Singla, Dean FMS, Delhi follows:

Is there any change in the FMS Admission 2017 Application process? When it is proposed to be closed?
FMS Admission 2017 application process remains on the similar lines with no change in application fee also. Applications for admission to the programme are invited through advertisements in major national newspapers every year. Applicants can register themselves for admission to MBA Programme (2017-2019) through FMS website by filling up online registration form and by paying the requisite registration fee of Rs. 1000/-(Rs.350/- for SC/ST/PWD), between November 1, 2016 and November 30, 2016.

What are the key changes in the 1st stage shortlisting criteria of FMS Delhi Admission 2017?
A change from previous year is that different weightages shall be assigned to the scores of different sections of the CAT 2016.

A composite score shall be computed giving weightages of 30%, 30%, and 40% to the scores of QA, DI/LR and VRC sections respectively as provided by the CAT Centre for the CAT 2016 Examination for candidates who apply to FMS.

An additional 3 marks shall be added to the Composite Score so computed in case of women candidates for the purpose of shortlisting. This composite score shall be used only for shortlisting the candidates for Interview Process.

Please share the reasons & rationale behind introducing these changes in FMS Admission 2017 process?
FMS Delhi awarded sectional weightage to CAT scores in MBA admission 2016-18 also. This year, to encourage diversity of Gender and Academic Disciplines FMS Delhi has changed the criteria to shortlist the candidates at the 1st stage for the Interview Process.

What will be the shape of PI round for FMS admission 2017? Will it also change?
From the shortlisted candidates, admission to MBA programme shall be based on Extempore Speech, Personal Interview and CAT 2016 score as provided by CAT Centre.
In the final selection process for MBA 2017-19 batch, an additional 3% of the maximum aggregate marks shall be awarded to the women candidates who appear for the interview while drawing the list of selected candidates.
