Admission process with low CAT Cut offs
A few changes are proposed in the admission and final selection process for PGDM 2017-19 at TAPMI. According to Prof. Gururaj Kidiyoor, Director TAPMI “There are some changes being contemplated in the Admissions process. Overall Merit Score is computed on the basis of CAT/XAT/GMAT scores, Academic track record, WAT score, PI score (includes weightage for profile of the candidate) and Work Experience.”

Candidates seeking admission in TAPMI, Manipal can be shortlisted for final selection round at this coveted B-school if you score around 85 to 90 percentile in CAT 2016

Who is the ideal candidate, TAPMI is looking for? Responding to this MBAUniverse.com query, Prof Gururaj Kidiyoor said “The Admissions Committee looks for consistency in the academic track record, relevant work experience, attitude to work in a competitive and collaborative environment and finally leadership potential. All this leads to one fundamental question – how open and willing is the candidate to absorb new influence; in short the candidate with the highest learnability quotient is the most sought after one!”

CAT 2016: Scores very important criterion
Sharing about the importance of CAT 2016 scores in shortlisting process Prof Gururaj says “CAT scores are predominantly used in the first level of shortlisting the candidates and for us they serve as a hygiene factor. Once a candidate is shortlisted and called for the WAT-PI process – everyone has an equal chance. It is the performance in the Personal Interview (PI) and Written Ability Test (WAT) that makes the key difference.”
The weightage to CAT scores while preparing the final merit list after PI round, according to Prof Gururaj “CAT/XAT/GMAT scores carry only 10-15% weight in the overall Merit Score.”

Eligibility criteria
TAPMI is running 3 PGDM courses. To be eligible for PGDM and PGDM (BKFS), an applicant has to have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Students in the final year of graduation can also apply. TAPMI will accept CAT 2016, XAT 2017 and GMAT 2015 & 2016 scores as well.

PGDM (Healthcare Management Program) will be limited to candidates with medical and para-medical qualifications with bachelor degree with 50% marks. Similarly, in respect of BKFS Program, preference will be given to candidates with background of Commerce / Economics (Graduate / Post Graduate), CA, ICWA or CS.

Don’t neglect any section: Advice to CAT 2016 aspirants
Sharing the success mantra for CAT 2016 aspirants, Prof. Gururaj Kidiyoor, Director TAPMI suggests “Technically speaking, only about 30 days of effective preparation is all that is need to get a good score in CAT. Do not neglect any section – that would be suicidal. CAT is not an exam where you can be ready overnight. Hence it’s important to maintain composure in the last 24 hours. How well you do in the exam is directly linked to how well you can avoid the temptation of answering questions that appear tricky or difficult. Maintaining balance between DILR, VARC and QA is important to ensure that you don’t end up with lop sided scores. Be very positive. Take as many mock tests as you can. Do not check your scores immediately after each section. Wait for the entire test to get over. You need practice to control your anxiety. More important, try taking the full length mock tests around same time when you are expected to give the exam eventually. This would help you to adjust physiologically to the stress of test.”
