IIFT 2018 Exam Analysis: Cut offs to go Down; RC Lengthy, LR Difficult, DI Calculation Intense; 114 Qs greet test takers
The IIFT 2018 exam analysis reflects similar pattern but higher difficulty level which may pull down the cut offs in the range of 34 to 36 marks. IIFT 2018 is rated a moderate to difficult exam. IIFT 2018 Exam Analysis reflects that the exam was on similar pattern as that of last year. However, LR, Quant questions were reported a bit more difficult, while RC passages were found lengthy and DI was rated as more calculation intensive.
Expect a lower cut off for MBA (IB) 2019 admission as the IIFT exam held on December 2, 2018 has been rated more difficult than last year. Overall it can be interpreted that the cut off may go down by 3-4 marks and the overall expected cut off may remain between 34-36 marks out of 100.
The IIFT 2018 exam held in 20 cities, for admission to 420 seats in MBA (IB) 2019 at Delhi, Kolkata and Kakinada campuses of IIFT got over at 12.00 Noon. While IIFT 2018 exam is rated a moderate to difficult exam, surprisingly, it has remained on the same pattern as was last year except a few minor changes and replacements in its scoring pattern.
IIFT 2018 exam for admission to MBA 2019 was held from 10 AM to 12 Noon on December 2, 2018. IIFT 2018 Exam Analysis reflects that the exam was on similar pattern as of last year. However, LR, Quant questions were reported a bit more difficult, while RC passages were found lengthy and DI was rated as more calculation intensive.
True to its reputation IIFT 2018 has left the test takers gasping for time management as they found it difficult to attempt 114 questions in 2 hours.

- Logical Reasoning found on easier side than last year
- GK has remained moderate in IIFT 2018 as compared to last year

Section 1 Analysis: Reading Comprehension
- The first section on RC had 16 questions.
- Each correct answer carried the weightage of 1 Mark with 0.33 negative marking for wrong answer
- 5 RC Passages appeared in the exam.
- 4 RC passages had 3 questions each and 1 RC passage had 4 questions
- Despite being lengthier, RC Passages were readable
Section 2 Analysis: Verbal Ability
- Verbal Ability section had 20 Questions
- Each correct answer carried the weightage of 0.75 Mark with 0.25 negative marking for wrong answer
- Questions had moderate to high difficulty level
- More Vocabulary Based questions to insert correct pair of words to fill in the blanks
- Choosing the appropriate words to complete the sentence
- Creating Words by using jumbled Alphabets
- Decoding the One word substitution
- Identification of Errors in Sentences

Section-3: Quantitative Analysis
Quantitative Analysis section has remained moderate to difficult. The section had high weightage in the IIFT exam. More emphasis on Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry in this section leads to the indicator that IIFT proposes to increase diversity in its class rooms.

Section 4: Data Interpretation
Most of the candidates found the Data Interpretation more calculation intensive

Logical Reasoning section had moderate to high difficulty level questions.

- Sectional weightage is 20% in overall exam
- Questions were in sets on the topics like Seating arrangement, position matrix etc.
Section 6: General Awareness (GK)
GK questions were not as difficult as appeared last year. Most of the questions were based on international events.

- Each correct answer carried the weightage of 0.5 Mark with 0.17 negative marking for wrong answer
- Sectional weightage is 9% in overall exam
- Topics included Countries, currencies, identifying the logo, BIMSTEC, WTO Agreements, Launching of Apps among others

- Expected cut off is expected at 1 Mark
