Program Highlight

Master of Business Administration (Business Analytics) known as Post Graduate Programme in Business Analytics (PGPBA) is a masters level programme, leading to the grant of a degree of Master of Business Administration in Business Analytics. This two-year, full-time, residential programme is designed to equip students to take on leadership roles in using analytics and artificial intelligence to solve increasingly complex problems. Curriculum Highlights

The MBA Business Analytics (PGPBA) at IIM Bangalore programme offers Core and Elective courses. Core courses are compulsory courses offered in the first year and second year. Elective courses are offered in the second year, where students get the opportunity to choose from a basket of multidisciplinary courses and courses with functional depth in Analytics. 

IIMB courses are delivered through a combination of lectures, classroom discussions, industry interactions, case analyses, individual and group projects, term papers, role plays, dissertations, simulations, business games, films, and various experiential learning methods. During the first year, a PGP-BA student is required to undertake eighteen core courses (totalling 49.5 credits). The first year consists of three terms, Summer internship programme is scheduled between the end of first year and the beginning of second year with a firm in the Analytics domain. Internship is optional for students who have at least 34 months of work experience prior to enrolling for the programme.

The PGP-BA student should take the four core courses in Term IV and at least four electives (12 credits) in the analytics domain (labelled as field electives) across Terms IV, V and VI. The remaining credits can be taken from either the analytics domain (field elective) or any other general management electives (free electives). A PGP-BA student should earn a minimum of 45 credits and a maximum of 51 credits in the second year. 

The electives cover a wide array of topics including Social Entrepreneurship, Infrastructure Development, PPPs and Regulation, Business Analytics and Intelligence, Spreadsheet Model-Business Decision, Current Economic Scenario; Indian Economy and Policy Matters for Business, Global Securities Markets, Corporate Governance: Indian and International Perspective, Corporate Valuation, Digital Marketing, Research for Marketing Decisions, Brand Management, Entrepreneurship in Action, Personal Values, Goals and Career Options, Creating High Performance Organizations, Supply Chain Management, Technology and Operations Strategy, Green Business Management, Strategic Thinking and Decision Making Apart from electives on functional areas, IIMB also offers different types of courses such as language courses (German, French, Spanish and Japanese), courses with international immersion (like Business Planning in International Markets, Developing Technology Partnerships between Firms in India and Israel), and experiential courses (like the Himalayan Mountain Challenge and Motorcycle Immersion in Local Entrepreneurial Settings), based on the interest of students.

Eligibility Criteria

  • IIM Bangalore MBA Business Analytics Eligibility criteria require that the candidate must hold a bachelor's degree of minimum 3 years duration after class 12, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA. 
  • The candidate should appear in CAT exam and must score minimum prescribed sectional and overall score to be considered for shortlisting.

Admission Process

Application Status: Open

Admission Process for Candidates for MBA Business Analytics at IIM Bangalore is through CAT. The admission of the candidates for admission to the MBA BA (PGPBA) at IIM Bangalore is a two-step process:

In the first step, candidates are short-listed for Personal Interview (PI) round from among the candidates who have a valid CAT score, who have applied to the programme and who satisfy the eligibility criteria for the programme. Detailed Admission process is as below:

  • The candidate must have appeared and scored the minimum required percentile in CAT. Candidates are short-listed for PI round which is conducted in many cities  
  • Candidates are shortlisted from among the candidates who have a valid CAT score, who have applied to the programme and who satisfy the eligibility criteria for the programme  
  • After the PI round, IIM Bangalore will award weightages to various parameters and admission offers are made by IIM Bangalore to successful candidates. 
  • The final selection is based on a diverse set of attributes which includes performance in CAT, performance in PI round, academics, diversity, work experience among others

How to Apply

  • For IIMB MBA Business Analytics admission, the applicant should Register and apply for CAT exam by paying the requisite application fee for the exam. 
  • On the page 4 of CAT application form, you need to select IIM Bangalore MBA Business Analytics (PGPBA) and other programs and select the interview city. 
  • Your application for IIM Bangalore admission is submitted. 
  • You do not need to apply and pay separately for IIM Bangalore Admission.
  • After declaration of CAT exam result, you can check at IIM Bangalore website whether you are shortlisted by entering your CAT registration ID and password
     

Selection Process

The final selection process for MBA Business Analytics admission to IIM Bangalore is based on students’ academic performance, their CAT score, performance in the admission interview and prior work experience. Following steps are included in the IIM Bangalore final selection process:

Step 1: Candidates are short-listed for Personal Interview (PI) and Written Ability Test (WAT) from among the candidates who have a valid CAT score, who have excellent academics, who have applied to the programme and who satisfy the eligibility criteria for the programme of IIM Bangalore

Step 2: IIM Bangalore will identify many candidates for shortlisting for the PI round with an excellent academic record and work experience but who may have narrowly missed the high score that would have been required if CAT alone was the basis for the PI shortlist. Such candidates will be preferred in the shortlisting process as against those who have only a high CAT score but have poor academic profile and poor quality of work experience.  The emphasis in shortlisting process at IIM Bangalore is on consistent and high performance in academics and other parameters. 

Step 3: After the WAT & PI round, admission offers are made by IIM Bangalore to successful candidates. The final selection is based on a diverse set of attributes which includes performance in WAT & PI, Performance in past academics, Performance in CAT, Quality of Work Experience among others

Step 4: Final Admission Offer will be made by IIM Bangalore to the candidates on the basis of Final Score arrived after awarding the weightage scores on all the components.
Candidates, who are finally selected, need to confirm their acceptance by completing all the required formalities by the stipulated date.
