Agribusiness refers to various businesses involved in food production: farming, seed supply, agrichemicals, farm machinery, wholesale, distribution, processing, marketing and retail sales. The agribusiness industry works on various levels from growing crops and livestock to processing crops and dairy products and further on to packaging, branding and selling, until the agricultural produce reaches the end customer. The objectives of this course are
- To create awareness among the students about the scope and prospects of sustainable agriculture
- To train students in the principles and practices of agricultural production, value addition, marketing, supply chain, global trends and future challenges
- To relate agriculture products, bi-products, value added products, their options and futures to the financial well-being of the primary producer
- To understand the real options available for risk management in agriculture and agro products so that farm product, farm income and derivative income of this system is protected
- To create agribusiness professionals capable of providing urban amenities in rural areas by astute management of rural resources
- To collaborate with reputed agricultural institutions and organizations in India and abroad to enhance intellectual capital of the system
- To participate in global research for agricultural and agro commodity innovations including adoption of disruptive practices
- To enhance the sustainability and capability of agricultural enterprises by providing trained students with knowledge of international standards on food safety, traceability of food products, local and global trade policies
- To create a platform to motivate and provide systemic guidance to the students to realize their dream as Agripreneurs
