IIM Bangalore Placement 2017: Average salary goes up to Rs.52 lakhs Overseas; Domestic at Rs.21LPA

Close on the heels of IIM Ahmedabad releasing the Audited data for final placement 2017, IIM Bangalore has proved that it is second to none as its students have grabbed higher placement offers both at domestic and international Placements 2017 than last year. Recently released final Placement data by IIM Bangalore reveal that average and median salary in placement 2017 at IIM Bangalore have increased substantially in final placement for 2015-17 batch. IIM Bangalore has refrained from announcing its highest domestic or highest international pay package for PGP 2015-17 batch.

Average overseas salary has increased to Rs.52.13 lakhs and average domestic salary has gone upto Rs. 21.42 lakhs in IIM Bangalore Placement 2017
The final Placement 2017 at IIM Bangalore began on March 1 as scheduled and was over before March 4. IIM Bangalore successfully concluded the final placement 2017 for the PGP 2015-17 class with 100% placement. Most IIMs follow the IPRS standard and therefore do not release the Placement salary data before audit which gets completed usually in September.
The industry reinstated its faith in IIM Bangalore as past recruiters along with more new recruiters took part in the placement process 2017. The unique feature in the process was the diversity of profiles offered to the students which gave them a good choice in terms of industry and the role.
77% hike in Average overseas salary
IIM Bangalore PGP 2015-17 batch has recorded 77% hike in the average overseas compensation. The average salary has increased to Rs.52.13 lakhs in Placement 2017 from Rs.29.50 lakhs in 2016. The median salary has also increased to Rs. 21 lakhs in Placement 2017 at IIM Bangalore.
Rs.21.42 lakhs: Average Domestic salary
Average domestic salary in Placement 2017 at IIM Bangalore has increased to Rs. 21.42 lakhs from Rs. 21.02 lakhs. The Median domestic salary in Placement 2017 for PGP at IIM Bangalore stood at Rs. 21 lakhs.
Top 3 IIMs: Trends in Average Salary
Average salary at IIM Ahmedabad has remained highest in Placement 2017 with Rs. 22.58 lakhs followed by IIM Bangalore with Rs.21.42 lakhs and IIM Calcutta with Rs.20 lakhs. 160 Recruiters making 463 offers
IIM Bangalore Placement 2017 has witnessed over 160 recruiters making 463 placement offers to 411 participating students with more than 200 job profiles. Boston Consulting has emerged as the top recruiter with 20 offers followed by Goldman Sachs and Accenture making 14 offers each.
10 students preferred to opt out of the placement process to pursue Entrepreneurship and other ventures.
162 PPOs
Recruiters made 162 Pre Placement Offers to the IIM Bangalore students. However, students accepted only 133 PPOs.
Pre Placement Offers extended to the students before the start of the Final Placements based on their performance during the Summer Internship have increased to 162 in Placement 2017 from 139 in 2016.
High Lateral Placement
The Lateral Placement season for candidates with more than 22 months of work experience saw a total of 139 offers being made by firms in varied domains like Consulting, Business Leadership, Product Management, Operations, Category Management, and General Management. Out of them 116 offers were accepted.
13 grab International Placement
13 students were offered international placements from various firms for global locations.
25% New Recruiters
IIM Bangalore placement 2017 witnessed around 25% first time recruiters. New recruiters included Sprinklr with 6 offers; Sterlite Power, BNY Mellon, Power Finance, Vedanta, Stovekraft, Hay Group, Gulf Talent, Tolaram, Intellipaat, Indian Oil, Ambuja Cement, Amplus Solar, Saint Gobain, Pernod Ricard, Cello and Danaher among others.
Top Recruiters
IIM Bangalore played host to most big brands of National and International Repute. Boston Consulting emerged as the top recruiter making 20 offers followed by Goldman Sachs, Accenture making 14 offers.
Consulting: the biggest recruiting sector
More than 30% of the entire batch received offers in the consulting sector. In the Consulting domain, The Boston Consulting Group was the top recruiter with 20 offers. Following it were McKinsey & Co with 13 offers; Bain & Company-10 offers; EXL Consulting-10 offers; Deloitte-10 offers. AT Kearney made 9 offers.
Other recruiters in Consulting domain included Alvarez & Marsal, Roland Berger and Strategy&, KPMG, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Nomura Research Institute, PwC Diamond Consulting and Ernst & Young.
Conglomerates
Conglomerates such as Aditya Birla Group made 10 offers. Other top recruiters include Tata Administrative Services (TAS), Reliance Industries Ltd, Mahindra Group, Jindal, CK Birla, RPG, Wipro among others.
Banking & Finance
A host of Indian and International Banks and financial institutions such as Goldman Sachs with 14 offers, Citibank, ICICI Bank, HSBC, Morgan Stanley, Yes Bank, Deutsche Bank, DBS, Standard Chartered, Visa, Axis Bank, JM Financial, Fullerton, Societe Genrale, Aviva and CRISIL among others emerged as top recruiters at IIM Bangalore Placement 2017
Sales & Marketing
Many students also chose to go to Sales and Marketing functions, and were extended offers by major consumer goods and services firms. The major recruiters in this category were Anheuser-Busch Inbev with 8 offers. Other top recruiters included Asian Paints, Himalaya , Hindustan Unilever, ITC, Johnson & Johnson, Marico, Procter & Gamble among others. International retail chain from Middle East M.H. Alshaya also recruited 4 students.
Technology
Prominent recruiters in the technology space included Capgemini, IBM, Cognizant,Samsung, Tech Mahindra, Microsoft, WNS, Directi, Sterlite Technologies, Microland, Sasken, UnitedHealth Group, Schneider Electric, Phillips, Robert Bosch, Honeywell, Sutherland Global among others recruited from the campus.
E-commerce: Saw less presence
The E-Commerce space saw very less presence. While Amazon was the top recruiter with 12 offers, other recruiters included Ola Cabs, Paytm, Myntra, Cloudtail, Swiggy and Uber.
