IIM Lucknow Summer Placement 2018: 459 students placed in 150 companies; breaks its own record

Raising the bar for placements in B-schools of India and breaking its own record set last year, IIM Lucknow has concluded its Summer Placement for the batch 2017-19 in record time. Complete batch of 459 students at IIM Lucknow got placed in 150 companies who participated in Summer placement 2017 for the summer 2018 internships. A whopping increase of 50% was recorded in the offers made in Finance Profile.
It is also a good news for CAT 2017 aspirants seeking admission in IIM Lucknow in 2018. IIM Lucknow high placement record is a prime attraction for CAT aspirants, although IIM Lucknow has the policy not to disclose its placement salary data in public domain. CAT 2017 despite being the mandatory exam for PGP 2018-20 admission at IIM Lucknow, will have only moderate weightage in admission process.

The institute has created the history again by placing the largest IIM batch in record time during Summer Placements and has achieved another milestone with 100% summer placements for its 33rd batch of 459 students within record time. The recruitment drive saw participation from more than 150 domestic and international recruiters. The participation of these firms also marked the ascent of IIM Lucknow as a preferred recruitment destination for marketing, consulting & finance roles in the country.
Summer Placement this year marked the advent of most sought after roles of finance domain such as investment banking and capital markets with companies like Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Citi Markets and JPMorgan Chase recruiting from the campus.
The top 4 segments based on roles offered were sales & marketing, finance, consulting and business development and the rest of the offers came from domains such as operations/supply chain, general management, systems/IT, market research, analytics and HR.
Top Recruiters
Some of the top recruiters across different sectors were Accenture Strategy, Aditya Birla Group, Amazon, A.T. Kearney, Cipla, Deutsche Bank, EY, Hindustan Unilever Limited, ITC Limited, Mahindra & Mahindra, McKinsey & Co., P&G, TAS, The Boston Consulting Group, Uber and Vodafone.
First Time Recruiters
There were 40 first time recruiters at the IIM Lucknow campus during summer placement. Some of the first time recruiters include Allergan, Bajaj Auto, Capgemini, Diageo, Exide industries Limited, Mytrah, Puma, Sanofi, Shell and United Phosphorous Limited among others. Companies like AB InBev, Deutsche Bank and Hindustan Unilever Limited offered international profiles as well.
Domain wise placement
The top segments based on roles offered were sales & marketing (35%), consulting (20%), finance (25%), e-Commerce (10%), systems/IT (5%), and general management (5%). The strong economic situation supported IIM Lucknow in attracting diverse new roles in the finance domain. Rest of the offers came from domains such as market research, analytics, business development, social media marketing and HR among others.
150 offers in FMCG/Consumer Goods/Telecom/Digital Media Sector
In the FMCG/consumer goods/telecom/digital media sector a total number of 150 offers were made with some of the top firms being AB InBev, Allergan, Asian Paints, Bajaj Auto, Bharti Airtel Capgemini, Colgate Palmolive, Dabur, Exide Industries Limited, Hindustan Unilever Limited, ITC Limited, Marico, Mars, Mondelez International Limited, Nestle, P&G and Sanofi. In addition to the traditional sales & marketing roles, these firms offered roles in supply chain management, IT, finance, HR, and analytics with some of them being exclusive roles for IIM Lucknow.
BFSI Sector
BFSI sector saw participation of companies like American Express, Altisource, Avendus Capital, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Citibank, DBS Bank, Deutsche Bank, Duff & Phelps, HSBC, ICICI Bank, JPMorgan Chase, Nomura, Piramal Fund and RBL Bank among others. This was a remarkable achievement for the campus in securing its position as a potential recruiting destination amongst premium recruiters. The major roles were in front end investment banking, global markets, investment research, corporate/wholesale/retail banking, market research, trading and operations.
Consulting and General Management Sector
In the consulting domain, Accenture Strategy, Alvarez & Marsal, A.T. Kearney, Auctus Advisors, Deloitte, EY, McKinsey & Co., MasterCard advisors and The Boston Consulting Group were the major recruiters. The General Management domain saw participation from companies such as Aditya Birla Group, Bharti Airtel, Mahindra & Mahindra, RIL, RPG, Star India, TAS and Vodafone among others.
IT/e-Commerce/Technology Sector
Some of the firms from the IT/e-Commerce/Technology sectors were Amazon, Capgemini, Cognizant, Flipkart, Microsoft, Uber and Wipro. These firms opened not only IT/Systems profiles, but also roles such as category management, sales enablement, business development, supply chain management, product marketing, strategic alliances, program manager and analytics.
Pharmaceuticals/Healthcare Sector
IIM Lucknow reaffirmed its position as the top destination for the Pharmaceuticals/Healthcare industry with firms such as Cipla, Allergan and Sanofi recruiting the campus for the first time. Other recruiters in this domain were Novartis and Dr. Reddys, recruiting in large numbers across functions. The roles were primarily in sales and marketing, finance, operations, market research and general management.
New Recruiters and Profiles
40 companies hired for the first time from IIM Lucknow with over 60% coming from the Sales & Marketing, Finance and e-Commerce sector. Some of the other sectors that were represented by these firms were consulting, systems/IT, general management, media and automotive. The roles were primarily in sales and marketing, finance and e-Commerce. The healthy economic environment has helped IIM Lucknow maintain its status as a top recruiting destination and has attained 100% placements for its largest graduating batch.
