IIM Ahmedabad Summer Placement 2018 concluded: 7 opt out; Accenture, RPG top recruiters

Seven students opted out and preferred to pursue their own ventures under the mentorship of Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship (CIIE) in the recently concluded Summer placement 2018 at IIM Ahmedabad. Last year 5 students opted out of the summer placement process.

Dream Campus Application continues
Continuing with the concept of dream campus that began 3 years ago, IIM Ahmedabad has concluded the Summer Placement 2018 for the batch 2017-19 in three clusters.
Dream Application, allowed students to choose the sectors and functions of their choice for their placement. Students are provided with the flexibility of making a dream application to any firm of their choice even with an offer in hand. This gives students the freedom to build careers in sectors of their preference.

The companies visiting IIM Ahmedabad campus for summer placement were grouped into cohorts which were based on the offered profile. These firms were invited to the IIM Ahmedabad campus in three clusters. More than 120 students submitted dream applications to firms of their choice in a cluster even if they had an offer in hand.

Accenture, Amazon, RPG: Top recruiters
Accenture Strategy with 19 offers is the top recruiter at IIM Ahmedabad. Last year Accenture made 16 offers. Close on the heels was RPG Group which made 14 offers. Amazon was the third largest recruiter with 12 offers. FinIQ was close as 4th big recruiter with 10 offers.

IIM Ahmedabad summer placement 2018 saw students placed across more than 15 sectors and functions of their choice. Domain wise placement highlights are:

Consulting
AT Kearney, Bain & Co., Deloitte USI, McKinsey & Co., Monitor Deloitte, Strategy& and The Boston Consulting Group among others were the other major recruiters in consulting.
Investment Banking
Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Credit Suisse, Goldman Sachs, HSBC, JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley were among the key recruiters in Investment banking and market.

BFSI
Apart from FinIQ, other important recruiters in BFSI cohort included American Express, Axis Bank, DBS Bank, the Reserve Bank of India among others.
Sales & Marketing
Sales and Marketing roles were offered by Airtel, HUL, Mondelez, P&G, Reckitt Benckiser, Star TV, Wipro, among others.
General Management
Apart from RPG Group, the general management cohort saw participation from the Aditya Birla Group, Mahindra & Mahindra, TAS among others.
Consumer Goods & Technology
After Microsoft, Uber was the next big recruiter in Consumer Tech cohort. Kedaara Capital, Multiples Equity, Temasek and True North actively participated in PE and VC domain.

Sharing the summer placement trends at IIM Ahmedabad, Asha Kaul, Chairperson Placement committee said, This healthy mix of old and new recruiters provided space to our students to dream, for the first time, on four companies and finally select the one that matched their aptitude, skill set and competency.
The cluster-cohort system is unique to IIM-A. It is meant to encourage students to consider career choices based on role and sector. The dream applications process allows a student to sit for 5 more companies after securing an offer. The cluster-cohort system has also helped to host recruiters in a fair and transparent manner leading to stronger relationships between IIM-Ahmedabad and the recruiter community.
