IFIM Bangalore Receives AACSB Accreditation; joins top league with ISB, IIM Calcutta, XLRI, TAPMI, IMT

On February 20, 2018, AACSB International, the global accreditation body, announced that Bangalore based IFIM Business School has been awarded the coveted AACSB Accreditation. With this important development, IFIM Bangalore has become only the sixth B-school in India to be AACSB Accredited.ISB was the first B-school in India to be AACSB Accredited, followed by TAPMI. IIM Calcutta, XLRI, IMT Ghaziabad are the other AACSB Accredited B-schools in India. Globally, only 810 B-schools, out of more than 10,000 B-schools are accredited by AACSB.

In a press note sent to MBAUniverse.com on February 20, AACSB said, By demonstrating excellence in innovation, engagement, and impact, eleven institutions have earned AACSB International accreditation. Georgia Gwinnett College, IFIM Business School, International University of Japan, Lawrence Technological University, Robert Gordon University, Tunghai University, Ume University, Universidad de Monterrey, University of Saskatchewan, University of Science and Technology Beijing, and University of Southampton have earned accreditation in business.

With these new accreditations, a total of 810 institutions across 53 countries and territories have earned AACSB Accreditation in business. AACSB Accreditation recognizes institutions that have demonstrated a focus on excellence in all areas, including teaching, research, curricula development, and student learning, said Stephanie M. Bryant, executive vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB International. Achieving accreditation is a process of rigorous internal focus, engagement with an AACSB-assigned mentor, and peer-reviewed evaluation. During this multi-year path, schools focus on developing and implementing a plan to align with AACSBs accreditation standards. These standards require excellence in areas relating to strategic management and innovation; student, faculty, and staff as active participants; learning and teaching; and academic and professional engagement.

According to information available with MBAUniverse.com, more than 100 Indian B-schools are currently in the various stages of AACSB accreditation process. Similar efforts are being made to pursue the EFMD EQUIS Accreditation, where only IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta and ISB are members.
