JBIMS Mumbai announces admission policy 2018: Know the process, cut offs, Placement, fee and more

JBIMS Mumbai has announced its admission policy and admission process for MMS 2018-20 batch after four days from the MAHCET 2018 result declaration date. Thousands of the candidates are unaware about the MMS 2018-20 admission process and have been raising query about the JBIMS admission criteria
JBIMS Mumbai has announced its admission policy and process for MMS 2018-20 batch on March 22, after four days from the MAHCET 2018 result declaration. Thousands of the candidates have been raising query about the JBIMS admission process and whether there was any move by the JBIMS to conduct its own admission process, however there was no response till March 21 from the B-school and now it has clarified that the admission will be offered through DTE CAP 2018.
Announcing its MMS 2018-20 admission policy, JBIMS has clarified, Admission at Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, University Mumbai for two years Masters in Management Studies (MMS) Programme will be done through Centralised Admission Process (CAP) of Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Government of Maharashtra.

MMS is the flagship course of Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS), conducted as a university department of University of Mumbai. It is a two year full time post graduate degree course in management. Started as early as 1965, the course has been modified continually and appropriately to suit the contemporary corporate world needs and has been able to nurture prominent leaders of the same. The institute offers various specializations like Finance, Marketing, Personnel, Operations and Systems in the second year of the course.
Upwards score trends in MAHCET raise cut offs
With the scores going up in MAHCET 2018 exam, it is expected that cut offs at JBIMS may also go up. Recently declared MAHCET 2018 exam result on March 19 reveals that a score of 130 for Maharashtra State category candidate may be required to get you admission in JBIMS Mumbai.
For All India category candidate, the cut off may be higher at 135 marks. As announced, no separate or individual admission process will be conducted by JBIMS Mumbai and the seat allotment will be made by DTE Maharashtra through Centralized Admission Process (CAP) 2018 which will be held in the last week of May 2018.
Expected Cut offs
Post declaration of MAHCET 2018 exam result, JBIMS Mumbai cut offs are expected to go up as compared to last year both for the Maharashtra State (MS) category as well as All India (AI) category candidates. Following are the expected slot wise cut offs across all the four slots of MAHCET 2018 exam held on March 10 and 11 for Maharashtra State (MS) and All India (AI) category

The cut off percentile range for Maharashtra State Home University (MS-HU) category is expected to remain around 98 percentile, while for All India (AI) category candidate it would be around 99 percentile in MAHCET 2018 exam.
JBIMS 2018 Admission through DTE CAP
As announced by JBIMS, the admission process will be through DTE CAP round. On the basis of Percentile of Normalized score of entrance exams, seat allocation will be done by DTE on merit in CAP rounds.
The Centralized Admission Process (CAP) 2018 will be conducted by DTE Maharashtra in the month of May/June 2018. A separate notification inviting candidates to participate in CAP 2018 will be released by DTE Maharashtra around May 15, 2018.
JBIMS Admission Criteria
Apart from score in the written exam, evaluation criteria will take into account complete personality of the candidate, which includes various parameters like extra-curriculars, other significant achievements. Work experience is also a component of the admission criteria and will be given due weightage.
However, if a fresher has other substantial credentials, he/she can cover up in other parameters. Work-ex alone would not be the deciding criteria.
Exam Score Accepted for admission
Different exam scores will be accepted for Maharashtra State (MS) category and All India (AI) category candidates as per the DTE guidelines.
MS Category: Score of MAHCET 2018 will be accepted for Maharashtra State candidates.
AI Category: Score of MAHCET 2018, CAT 2017 and CMAT 2018 will be considered in admission process for MMS 2018-20 batch for All India category candidates.
As per the DTE Maharashtra notification dated October 18, 2017, only those All India category candidates will be considered for admission who have appeared in MAHCET 2018, CAT 2017 or CMAT 2018 exams.
Final Admission Result
There will be five CAP rounds to be conducted by DTE Maharashtra from the last week of May to the first week of June 2018. The merit list will be out in the first week of June 2018. If you are allotted seat in JBIMS, you should report at the designated ARC without any delay to secure your seat else it will be allotted to some other candidate.
JBIMS Application process
Candidates who have appeared in CAT 2017 and have got high score but could not be shortlisted by IIMs due to one or other factor, still have the opportunity to explore admission in JBIMS Mumbai. If you have appeared in MAHCET 2018, CAT 2017 or CMAT 2018, you can seek admission in JBIMS till May 2018.
Application is through DTE CAP 2018
The admission to the JBIMS MMS programme 2018 will be through CAP 2018 to be conducted by DTE Maharashtra. If you have not appeared in MAH CET 2018, there is nothing to worry, you can still apply for admission to JBIMS Mumbai till May 2018 through DTE CAP. Your CAT 2017 and CMAT 2018 score will be considered for admission to JBIMS and other MBA/MMS colleges in Maharashtra.
The registration and application for Centralized Admission Process (CAP) 2018 for admission to JBIMS and other MBA colleges in Maharashtra will open in the second week of May 2018. The candidates who have scored high and wish to be considered for JBIMS admission process to its flagship MMS 2018-120 programme can apply then.
Please note DTE Maharashtra allows very limited time to submit the application for participation in CAP. So, you have to apply immediately when the Notification for CAP 2018 is released by DTE Maharashtra.
No separate application required for JBIMS
Since DTE Maharashtra will conduct Centralized Admission Process (CAP) 2018 for admission to all the 400+ participating MBA colleges including JBIMS Mumbai and will make seat allotment in the MBA colleges as per the merit score obtained by the candidates, there is no need to apply separately in JBIMS for admission.
JBIMS revises fee to Rs.6 lakhs
JBIMS has increased its fee by 300% for MMS course since last year. After being awarded the autonomous status, the JBIMS fee has gone up to Rs.6 lakhs from Rs.2.04 lakhs. It appears that the JBIMS fee despite being regulated by the Shikshan Shulka Samiti (SSS) of Government of Maharashtra has got a special status to determine its own fee.
18 seats for All India candidates
JBIMS has a total intake of 120 seats in the flagship MMS programme. Out of this intake 15% seats are allotted to All India category candidates.
Accordingly, there are 18 seats for the All India category candidates for admission to MMS 2018-20 at JBIMS. Their merit list and cut offs will be separately prepared by DTE Maharashtra after the CAP 2018 is over.
Placement 2018: Average salary goes up
Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS) Mumbai has concluded its final placement 2018 with a higher average salary, more PPOs offered to the students and more number of new recruiters visiting the campus for placement. Entire batch of 130 MMS 2016-18 students at JBIMS got placed in the shortest period.
130 students who participated in JBIMS placement 2018 got well placed at an average salary of Rs.18.91 LPA as against Rs. 18.76 lakhs last year.
Average salary for top 10% students stood at Rs. 25.38 lakhs and the average salary for top 30% stood at Rs. 21.68 lakhs. Median Salary at JBIMS Placement 2018 has remained Rs. 17 lakhs. During the last 5 years of JBIMS Placements, average salary at this preferred MBA college has gone on rising each year.
