FMS Delhi: Sees 110% Jump in Female Students in MBA 2018-20 Batch; Admission Criteria Changed

Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), Delhi University has witnessed a sharp increase in the ratio of women students in its MBA full time 2018-20 batch. The high RoI MBA college in India, FMS Delhi has seen a 110% rise in the number of female students.

From 18% to 38% Female Students
The latest batch to enter FMS Delhi, the batch of 2020, is a testament to the changing times in the field of management education. The 110% increase in the intake of female students for the MBA full time course at FMS amounts to more than double of what the intake was last year. The ratio of women students at FMS has risen from 18% of total students to a staggering 38% and is still counting.

80+ Female Students out of 220
As against a number of 39 female students in last year, this year FMS has offered admission to 83 female students in MBA 2018-20 batch. The ratio of female students at FMS Delhi is highest among the top MBA colleges in India including IIMs.

Another feature at the FMS is that Dr. Sunita Singh Sengupta, Dean ,FMS Delhi , is the only woman in the dean's chair among the top 7 business schools in the country.

Admission Criteria Changed
A catalyst to change and being one of the oldest business schools in India, FMS has been witness to the changes that have taken place in management education in the country. FMS had brought in significant changes in its admission criteria this year by reducing the CAT weightage from 85% to 60%  and awarding an additional weightage of 10% for class X and XII marks.  In addition to this , a group discussion round was also introduced in the selection procedure.

All these changes have contributed in remarkable improvement in the overall batch diversity.

60% students from Diverse Background
With more than 60% students having prior work experience and their educational backgrounds ranging from Economics , Agriculture, Food & Technology,  Chemistry, Law ,English, HR and Zoology, FMS Delhi new batch is from diverse academic back ground.

With a 64 year legacy, Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi has been the flag bearer of management education in India by providing low cost MBA with high placements. The institute has been instrumental in giving India its best mangers and leaders, who have gone on to achieve global recognition.

FMS changed the criteria to shortlist candidates for PI round and included GD in final selection process to improve academic diversity and to meet the demand of recruiting industry. The changes were primarily done to ensure diversity of the Academic Disciplines as is the demand of recruiting industry too. This will help candidates have a balance of intellectual quotient and communication dexterity.

All the shortlisted candidates of FMS Delhi participated in final admission round at the designated date at the North Campus of University of Delhi from April 16 to 23, 2018.

FMS Delhi is the dream destination for MBA aspirants due to its very low fee structure and high placements. The annual fee for full time MBA 2018-20 programme at FMS Delhi is Rs. 10,000/- only (Source: FMS MBA Admission 2018 brochure). Accordingly 2 years tuition fee at FMS Delhi is Rs.20,000/- only. The average placement in 2018 has gone upto Rs.21.1 lakhs per annum.
