IIM A faculty Prof N Ravichandran joins as Director of IIM Indore

IIM A faculty member Prof N Ravichandran has joined IIM I as Director on November 27, 2008. IIM I has confirmed the development with MBAUniverse.com.

Prof Ravichandran has been appointed for the year of five years. His immediate focus is on how to raise the stature of IIM Is flagship PGP programme.

Speaking with MBAUniverse.com, Mr Narendra Babu, Chief Administrative Officer of IIM I said, Prof Ravichandran has joined IIM I on November 27. His priority areas include increasing the stature of PGP programme so that it features in Top 5 MBA programmes in India. Faculty development with FPM programme and new Energy Sector are other focus areas.

Prof Ravichandran completed his Ph.D. in 1980 in the area of Applied Probability at Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. His research areas as Competitive Strategy, Information Technology Strategy, Operations Management, Quantitative Methods, Applied Simulation and Stochastic Processes and their applications. He has also been actively involved with the Case Research Society of India.

According to information shared by IIM I with MBAUniverse.com, there will be 240 candidates admitted to IIM Is PGP programme starting June 2009. Last year too the number of candidate admitted to IIM I PGP programme was 240. IIM Indore also shared that it plans to increase the seats to 300 for the 2010-12 batch.

Indian Institute of Management Indore - the youngest sibling in the family of IIMs before IIM Shillong was launched this year - has travelled quite a distance, since its inception in 1996. At present, IIM I offers several programmes and plans to introduce a new programme from the next academic year. The programmes are: Post Graduate Programme (PGP); Management Development Programme; 18-Month Executive Post-Graduate Programme (Exe-PGP); Fellow Programme in Management (FPM); Certificate Course in Business Management for Defence Officers (CCBMDO); BroadBand Based Management Programmes; Post-Doctoral Research Fellow Programme and One year Post Graduate Programme in Management for Executives (Ex-PGP).
