CAT 11 Day 1: Moderate to tough, say CL, IMS, TIME experts

Gautam Puri, Vice Chairman, Career Launcher mentions, The difficulty level of the first day of CAT 2011 exam was Moderate to Difficult. Though the questions were on the expected lines but the nature of questions were difficult.
Talking about the paper pattern, Puri said, Out of 30 questions in each section, there were 20 questions from Quantitative Ability and Verbal Ability and 10 questions from Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning. Hence the ratio is 20:10 in the sections. According to him, an attempt of 45 questions in the paper, with 21 to 22 questions in each section will fetch you a good percentile.
Advising the candidates whose CAT 2011 exam are scheduled in the upcoming days, Puri suggested, Be well prepared. Dont consider this paper as the sole bench mark. There can be changes in the difficulty level or the question types in the upcoming days. So be prepared for any situation.
Vinayak Kudva, Product Head, IMS Learning said, The overall difficulty level can be termed as Moderate to Tough. The Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation section was tough. Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning section was on the easier lines.
The paper did not bear any surprises for the test takers. According to Arks Srinivas, ex-Director, T.I.M.E, The paper was very much similar to the previous year. The questions reflected last years questions only.
Hence, from the opinion of the experts, the questions were on various difficulty levels. The exam had questions from all difficulty levels. A couple of questions were very difficult, some questions were quite easy. Overall, the difficulty level was Moderate, exclaimed Nishit Sinha, author and IIM Lucknow alumnus and the founder Director of dueNorth, a test prep institute in Dehradun.
