Dr Kavita Laghate appointed new JBIMS director
Dr Kavita Laghate, who was associated as professor with the Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS) for the last seven years, has been appointed as the director of the institute.

Dr Laghate took over the charge in the first week of August. I have taken over as director of the Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies from August 1, 2012, she told MBAUniverse.com.
She has taken over from Dr Stephen DSilva who served the prestigious B-school from 2009.
According to media coordinators with JBIMS, Dr Laghate is currently occupied with setting the academic priorities for the new batch that has joined recently. She said she will soon chalk out a strategy for different academic as well as non-academic activities of the institution.
A bachelor and master, both in science, Dr Laghate also holds a PhD. Her areas of specialisation include statistics, operations research, quantitative models, and research methods. She joined JBIMS in 2005 as an associate professor. Apart from her core teaching activities, Dr Laghate has been actively participating in other academic activities such as organizing conferences, seminars and MDPs in JBIMS.
Founded in 1965, the Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS) is the third oldest management institute in India. JBIMS was established by the University of Mumbai in collaboration with the Graduate School of Business, Stanford University. The flagship MMS (Master of Management Studies) programme was conceived under the aegis of the Mumbai University. JBIMS is rated among the top 15 business schools in India. The B-school has been achieving 100 per cent placements for years. It completed the final placement for the 2010-2012 batch with top companies, including Standard Chartered Bank, ICICI Bank and Yes Bank, hiring all the 118 students of its flagship two-year management programme. While the highest annual package offered at the institute was Rs 24 lakh, the average annual package stood at Rs 14.9 lakh.
