CAT 2012 Day 17: DI, VA & LR questions become lengthy & trickier

CAT 2012 Day 17 was held on Friday, November 2, 2012. However, the tough part of the exam shifted to the Data Interpretation, Logical reasoning and RC passage questions from the Quantitative Ability questions.

CAT 2012 Day 17 was held on Friday, November 2, 2012. After a one-day break on November 1, 2012, CAT 2012 was resumed. Till Day 16 of CAT 2012, 138054 candidates took the exam. The difficulty level continued to be moderate to difficult. However, the tough part of the exam shifted to the Data Interpretation, Logical reasoning and RC passage questions from the Quantitative Ability questions.

Majority of CAT takers at a Noida test center claimed that DI and LR questions proved to be very tricky and lengthy today which wasnt expected by them as the previous exams had easy LR questions, though the DI and RC questions were tricky at times. The RC passages were lengthy and some of the questions were ambiguous and tricky.

Rajiv from Delhi said, The RC and DI questions were very tricky. It took a lot of time to ensure that I have selected the right answer option. The Quant and LR questions too were on the trickier side.
Ishita Bhowmik from Noida shared the same views and pin pointed the fact that DI and LR were tough and lengthy.In Quant section the maximum questions came from Geometry and Algebra while in Verbal section it was Para jumbles and RC passages which had the maximum number of questions.

Let us have a look at the question types in the sections:

Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation
The Quantitative Ability area had maximum questions from Geometry and Algebra. Rest of the questions were from the other known topics such as Arithmetic, Trigonometry, Number Systems, P & C , Functions, Mensuration, Time Speed & Distance etc. Data Interpretation area saw questions on Venn Diagram, Pie Chart and Caselets.

Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning
The Verbal Ability questions were on Reading Comprehension, Para Jumble, Vocabulary, sentence correction, identifying the out of context sentences, grammar etc. The Logical Reasoning questions were lengthy and tricky.
