IMT event to invite innovative ideas to spur sectoral growth
IMT Ghaziabad is in the process of organising a competition to generate ideas and strategies that are likely to reverse the sagging trends in the industry.
As part of its efforts to find solutions to rising problems across industry verticals which deter growth and often lead to job losses, IMT Ghaziabad is in the process of organising a competition to generate ideas and strategies that are likely to reverse the trends.
The event, called IMT Big 10, will ask participants to come up with ideas and strategies to boost the growth of the various sectors of the economy. The competition is not only open to students of B-schools but also for alumni who have less than three years of work experience.
B-schools like IIM Rohtak, IIFT, IMI and NITIE are some of the institutions that will be taking part. IMT Ghaziabad has identified 12 major sectors such as agriculture, BFSI (banking, financial services and insurance), education, healthcare, infrastructure, information technology, manufacturing, power, retail, telecommunications, and tourism to choose from.
Each team comprising two-three members will be asked to make a presentation on a sector of its choice and suggest ideas and strategies so that the particular sector grows 10 times. They have to send their presentations and based on that shortlisted teams will be called for a face-to-face presentation on December 1 following which the winner will be announced, said a member of the corporate communications and media relations committee.
In todays fast paced world, innovation is the key for driving growth. We have already planned a string of business plan competitions aimed at generating ideas that have potential to grow into a business, IMT Ghaziabad students wrote on the website dedicated to the upcoming event.
It has been a long time since we witnessed a revolution. Decades ago, Dr Norman Borlaug brought about the Green Revolution and then Dr Verghese Kurien inspired the White Revolution. The time is ripe for another revolution that does not only translate to growth but into a 10-time growth. Big 10 is our initiative to colour the next revolution. It is our attempt to invite ground breaking feasible ideas that can trigger growth and take us to the top, it said.
