IIM Bangalore’s business fest Vista, which entered its second day on October 13, offered a wide spectrum of competitions, discussions, workshops and talks.

Student participation increase significantly with new registrations throughout the day. The highlight of the day was Media Conclave – which brought togahter eminent media professionals like Arnab Goswami of Times Now, Jehangir Pocha of Business World, Priya Ramani of Mint, Suhel Seth of Counselage India to discuss the increasing significance of media in business.

Earlier, kicking off the day was the next round of the flagship event of Vista – Numero Uno (‘Hunt for the next CEO’) where the participants were tested on their leadership skills, listening skills and their perseverance through a series of rounds of physical activities. ‘Tata Boardroom Wars’-the prestigious event moved into the final round today. The final round was a simulation of the corporate boardroom where the teams presented their strategy in front of four Tata executives. The event was a true test of business acumen as it involved coming up with strategy deciding the future course of action for the company. After five extremely grueling rounds, the final was a true ‘trial by fire’.

‘Finesse’ – a Private Equity game where participants had to chart the growth of their organization, provided the participants with unconventional, extremely challenging problems. A multi -year simulation game, it tested the participants' judgment, strategy and risk-taking abilities. ‘General’s Gambit’ – a game that required the teams to come up with a sound strategy given the practical constraints and uncertainty prevailing in the business environment, was a huge learning experience for the participants.

Some of the competitions including paper contest Manifestation and business plan competition Bzzwings concluded with announcements of winning teams. (See other stories on this portal of event winners).

The third day will witness the final rounds of most of the events, workshops on investments and social networking. The highlight of the day will however be ‘Bizarre’ – a business quiz hosted by Harsha Bhogle.
