CAT convener tells you 5 must Dos for CAT 2012 results day

Now that CAT 2012 results will be announced within 12-13 hours, IIMs as well as CAT 2012 convener have some words of advice for around 2 lakh candidates who sat for the exam. Since CAT 2012 results will play a stellar role in deciding the future of these candidates they are really worried and keeping their fingers crossed some timely suggestions on what to do on the result day will help them immensely.

According to IIMs, CAT 2012 results will be declared in the wee hours (around 3 am) on January 9. However, if the experience of the previous couple of years is anything to go by, CAT results get announced almost at the stroke of midnight.

The biggest worry that now haunts candidates is that of the official site, www.catiim.in, getting crashed with such a huge traffic trying to log on at the same time. To avoid this, extra efforts are being put in place.

CAT 2012 convener SSS Kumar prescribes five things that candidates must do on the eve of the results being announced. These are meant to soothe overstretched minds.

Keep CAT registration number near at hand: It is very important that you commit to memory or write the information on a piece of paper as you will be required to enter these to access the site.

Email ID: You will need to enter your email ID to access the site in order to know CAT 2012 results.

Retain a printed copy of the result: Candidates should retain a printed copy of their CAT 2012 results with them to feel more secure.

Be calm & patient: Mr Kumar advises students to remain calm and patient and not to rush to retrieve their results. In spite of all the efforts, the site mat get a bit slow because of heavy traffic. If you encounter this problem, wait for a while and log on after sometime.

Do not worry, database is safe enough: Candidates need not worry as the database containing CAT 2012 results are fully safe and secure and nobody has access to that.

Soumitra Roy, managing director of Prometric, the agency that conducted CAT 2012, said: Candidates will be required to enter their CAT registration number and email address in order to access the site. They are also advised to retain a printed copy of their results.

While assuring that every effort has been made to ensure that candidates do not face any issue while accessing their scores, Mr Roy said, Slightly heavier traffic on the first day may still be anticipated. Candidates are advised to be patient and try accessing the scores a little later if they find the site slow.

It may be mentioned that candidates can access their results via the official site till January 31, 2013.
