XLRI to host three-day Conference on financial inclusion
Aimed at deliberating on research and contemporary issues on financial inclusion, XLRI Jamshedpur will host a 3-day international conference & competition in September this year.
Aimed at deliberating on research and contemporary issues on financial inclusion, XLRI Jamshedpur will host academicians, practitioners and microfinance institutions from across the country at its 3-day international conference & competition to be held in September this year.
According to the premier institute, both the events -2nd International Workshop on Inclusive Finance & National Level Competition Innovation4Impact, will be held on September 13-15, 2013 at the XLRI Jamshedpur campus.
The workshop will bring academicians, practitioners, microfinance institutions and NGOs, who have a passion in the area of financial inclusion, to deliberate on research as well as contemporary issues. According to the institute, the workshop will consist of a series of plenary sessions, thematic panel discussions, presentations of empirical and policy research, presentations of case studies; and a competition on innovations4impact.
We intend to address the challenges faced while implementing the financial inclusion initiatives by the government and draw lessons for research, said Dr H K Pradhan, Professor of Finance and Economics, Chair, Financial Market Centre, XLRI Jamshedpur, adding, Papers with strong academic quality and policy implications are specifically invited for presentation in these sessions, which will be deliberated by a panel of experts and authors.
The national level competition - Innovation4Impact , will invite initiatives from social innovators, microfinance institutions, impact investors, and micro-entrepreneurs, who have made a difference to the life at bottom of the pyramid, by linking finance to livelihoods, the institute said. The broad theme of competitions includes (i) Innovations in Livelihood Initiatives with Finance; (ii) Innovation in Financial Inclusion by Banks/Institutions, (iii) Rural Micro Business (Producers Group/Cooperatives), (iv) Innovations in Micro Credits, Savings & Insurance, (v) Livelihood Finance Innovation for the Ultra Poor, (vi) Innovative Ways to Financial Literacy Initiative, (vii) Product Innovations in Financial Inclusion, (vii) Micro Insurance & Community Based Insurance, and (viii)Technology & Financial Inclusion.
