CAT 2013 Day 3 Analysis: RC Lengthy, Verbal & Quant Moderate

CAT 2013 Day three first session is over. Verbal section was difficult while quant was moderate. Logical Reasoning and DI questions were easy. This article brings you the analysis of the first session of CAT day three.

Today was the third day of CAT 2013 exam. The first session for Day 3, on October 19 got over this afternoon at 1.00 PM. MBAUniverse.com editorial team was present on many centers in New Delhi, Noida and Greater Noida and spoke to students for their first reaction and feedback. According to the students, the Reading Comprehension was lengthy as all the three passages were around 850-900 words.

Mihir Shah, a test taker from Delhi shared his experience and said, I am lucky as my paper was not very difficult. Quant and DI were calculation intensive but not hard. LR was very easy and Verbal Ability covered all topics.
One of the test takers in Noida, Surojit said, I was stuck at RC as it took me a lot of times to read three passages which were based on descriptive and one was based on Recession. Questions were although direct. Quant was LOD 2.

CAT 2013 Day 3 First Session Sectional Analysis:
Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation: Calculation intensive but moderate in Difficulty Quantitative Ability area had maximum questions from Geometry and Functions with around 10-12 questions from these topics. Rests of the questions were from the other known topics such as Arithmetic, Trigonometry, Functions, Mensuration, Time Speed & Distance etc.

Number System was missing from many students question set. Data Interpretation area saw questions on Pie Chart and Bar Diagram and was termed as very easy by many students. Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning: Lengthy but average in difficulty The first session of DAY 3 covered each topic in Verbal Ability including Reading Comprehension, Para Jumble, Vocabulary, Error correction in paragraph, identifying the Out of Context sentences, fill in the blanks. RC Passages were very long while questions were direct. According to MBAUniverse.com Verbal Ability expert Prof SK Agarwal, difficulty level was average but all the passages were lengthy. Vocabulary too was a bit difficult. Aspirants may expect a lower cut off in Quant section while slightly higher cut off in VALR section.

The Logical Reasoning questions were easy and had questions on circular arrangements and blood relations.
