Other top rated IIMs have announced their admission policy 2016-18 but IIM Bangalore is still keeping the CAT 2015 aspirants waiting
IIM Bangalore would also award less weightage to candidates with engineering back ground as other IIMs have announced

IIM Bangalore the dream campus for CAT 2015 aspirants is shying away to announce the admission policy and process with its minimum qualifying scores in CAT 2015 and weights assigned for first and final stage of shortlisting and selection.

IIM Bangalore is one of the top 4 and oldest IIMs in the country. The 2.18 lakhs of CAT 2015 aspirants while finalizing their registration process for the exam have preferred to get into one of the 4 most preferred IIMs namely IIM  Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta and Lucknow. Surprisingly, while IIM Ahmedabad, Calcutta and Lucknow  have already announced their admission policy for PGP 2016-18 batch, IIM Bangalore is still keeping the CAT 2015 aspirants waiting.

Higher weightage to Non-engineers?
All of the IIMs who have announced their admission policy, have resorted to improve academic and gender diversity in their class rooms in the flagship PGP 2016-18 batch by reducing the weightage to CAT 2015 scores and awarding higher weightage to the non-engineering academic background.

It is expected that the admission policy for PGP 2016-18 batch at IIM Bangalore would also award less weightage to candidates with engineering back ground as other IIMs have announced although the ratio of weightages might vary.

IIM Bangalore has announced the admission policy for EPGP and other programmes but is taking some time before announcing the admission policy for PGP 2016-18 batch.

Know what is needed from you to get into IIM Bangalore
The well-defined and detailed admission process at IIM Bangalore will judge CAT 2015 takers on a number of parameters as it believes in efficacy of multiple criteria. IIM Bangalore expects the candidates to have the following with them

Excellent academic profile
According to IIM Bangalore ‘students who perform well in the academic programme are typically those who have a consistently good academic record at the school, high school and graduation level, and who exhibit a sufficiently high aptitude as measured by CAT (Common Admission Test of the IIMs)/GMAT. Therefore, IIMB uses these parameters to judge the suitability of candidates for the PGP programme.’

Exam scores; to establish minimum level only
The CAT 2015 score will be used by IIM Bangalore to establish the minimum level of proficiency expected from a candidate in respective faculties as indicated by the section-wise minimum scores in the CAT 2015. The cut-off for the CAT 2015 score, one of the most important parameters will be announced by IIM Bangalore shortly.

However,  IIM Bangalore prefers to use multiple criteria to arrive at a composite score for every candidate, which is used to select candidates at a subsequent stage.

The candidates who are shortlisted for final admission round shall have to go through the personal interview and an assessment of writing ability.  IIM Bangalore also awards weightage for Relevant work experience while finalizing the admission list.
