It has been more than an hour and the test is being conducted at the exam centre with no technical glitches which allays the fear of technical and management problems

More than 30% of approximately 75000 registered candidates for MAH CET 2016 gathered across the country at 40 test cities to take the exam in the morning session on March 12, for admission to MBA/MMS 2016-18 programmes and are trying their luck for the top B-schools like JBIMS, K J Somaiya, SIMSREE and other 400 B-schools.

Candidates were asked to report 45 minutes before the scheduled time of the start of the exam and the entry at the test venue was supposed to be closed 30 minutes before the start of the exam. Accordingly for the exam beginning at 10AM candidates had to report by 9.15 AM. However, a few candidates who arrived at the nick of time and were late due to unavoidable circumstances were allowed but this was allowed as a special case and prior to the beginning of the exam. No candidates was allowed after beginning of the exam.

MAH CET 2016 is conducted in multiple sessions today on March 12 and tomorrow on March 13, 2015. It is 150 minutes online exam comprising 200 MCQs divided in 4 sections namely Logical Reasoning-75 questions; Abstract Reasoning 25 questions; Verbal Ability & reading comprehension-50 questions and Quantitative Aptitude-50 questions. Quant section in MAH CET 2016 will also consist of questions on data Interpretation.

Last year the registration for MAH CET was over with 60292 candidates out of which 57224 took the test in multiple sessions. This year the registration has gone up to 75000 and it is expected that around 70000 would appear in MAH CET 2016 exam being held today and tomorrow.

Different exam conducting body
Learning the lessons from last year grievances raised by thousands of MAH CET exam takers due to number of wrong or misprinted questions as well as answer options in the exam and legal issues that followed after declaration of MAH CET result, Government of Maharashtra  has carved out a new exam conducting body with the name State Common Entrance Test Cell (State CET Cell), instead of assigning direct responsibility to Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) Maharashtra to conduct MAH CET 2016.

No technical glitches reported
It has been around an hour and the test is being conducted at the exam centre with no technical glitches which allays the fear of technical and management problems at the test centres as the first session on the first day of MHCET 2016 began on time in most of the regions in the country. No report so far has been received about any problem due to which MAH CET 2016 couldn’t begin on time.

Number of reports anticipated the technical glitches that could mark the beginning of MAH CET 2016. However, all such fears have been put to rest as MAH CET 2016 began without any technical issues.

Candidates need to adhere to time schedule
Candidates gathered in good number at the MAH CET 2016 exam centre in the cool morning today around 9.00 AM to brave the first session of MAH CET 2016. The reporting time for the first session of MAH CET 2016 was 9.15 AM i.e. 45 minutes before the beginning of the exam implying that the first session of MAH CET 2016 was to begin at 10 AM and candidates were asked to report at 9.15 AM.

Most of the test takers had arrived between 9 – 9.15 AM and the gates of the exam centre were opened around 9.15 AM. Some of the MAH CET 2016 invigilation team members were seen coming even till 9.30 AM. Candidates who arrived till 9.30 or even a little late were also frisked with security check and were allowed to enter the testing room.

More Testing rooms were arranged in the examination centre to accommodate more number of candidates. Initially a long queue got formed before the security check point. However, it continued moving  and by 9.30 the handling became smooth.  The morning Sun also posed no problem for  the candidates as they continued standing and basking in Sun in the early morning without any complaints.

Number of candidates were seen discussing the fear of anticipated technical glitches at the centre during the examination. The fear was not also unfounded as a higher number of candidates are taking the test in each session.

Keeping their fingers crossed, candidates moved on and were seen entering the testing lab slowly. A few of them, knowing that no breaks would be allowed during the examination, preferred to go to the washroom before entering the testing lab.

The doors of the testing room were closed at 9.30 AM although a few candidates still continued pouring in. The invigilator in the testing lab read out the instructions and clearly advised the candidates not to touch the key board as it could lock the system.

MAH CET 2016 first session however began a few minutes late but could be rated on time as per the clocks of Exam centre, set according to the MAH CET 2016 server. It was anticipated that the first session could be substantially delayed due to various problems at the exam centre. But MAH CET 2016 exam Centre has well managed the stage and started the test with no delays.

JBIMS brought back to CAP
In a significant development, the revamped admission process, post MAH CET 2016 exam has brought back JBIMS, Mumbai to its CAP round. Last year, after being awarded the autonomous status, JBIMS conducted its own GD-PI round on the basis of MAH CET and CAT scores. However, for MMS 2016-18 batch, the candidates who have appeared in any of the all India management entrance tests as well as MAH CET 2016 are eligible for admission to JBIMS. Admission to JBIMS will now be finalised through the CAP 2016 and not by JBIMS separately.
