'Do not leave values behind' - Suresh Narayan delivers Convocation address at XIM Bhubaneshwar

"Know who you are and what you want to be, do not leave values behind, because when everything is gone values stay", were the inspiring words from Shri Suresh Narayanan Chairman and Managing Director, Nestle India Limited who delivered the convocation address on March 29, 2016 at the 2nd Convocation ceremony of Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar and Xavier University, Bhubaneswar(XUB).

Shri Narayan also said that the 10 C's are essential in life: Clarity, Competence, Credibility, Courage, Concentration, Creativity, Constraints, Compassion, Continuous Learning and Contentment.

The Convocation ceremony was also graced by the distinguished personalities Mr. Rajive Kaul, Chairman NICCO Corporation Limited, Kolkata & Chairman of the XIMB Board of Governors; Fr. Paul Fernandes, S.J., Vice-Chancellor and Fr. Antony Uvary, S.J., Registrar.

The occasion witnessed 578 graduating students in 2016 from various management programmes namely Doctoral-level Fellow Programme in Management (FPM); Master of Business Administration (MBA-BM); Master of Business Administration (MBA-RM); Master of Business Administration (MBA-HRM) and Master of Business Administration (MBA-PT).

Archana Mishra, Saikat Mukherjee, Riga Das, Rituparna Mohanty, Basavanneppa Sankeshwar, Nibedan Kumar Bhawsinka, Jalaj Pathak, Radhika Rajgopal Sarda, Avisekh Kumar Maharana and Nishant Mishra were the top 10 rank holders and awardees for Gold Medals. They were presented with awards and accolades. In addition to this, medals were handed out for outstanding performance to Aseem Patnaik, Archana Mishra, and Radhika Rajgopal Sarda.

The convocation ceremony began with a welcome note by Fr. Antony Uvary, S.J., followed by the Vice chancellor’s report by Fr. Paul Fernandes S.J. and a Chairman’s address by Mr. Rajive Kaul. The meritorious students were presented with medals by Shri Suresh Narayanan followed by the presentation of Graduates of various courses by the Deans. The degree/diploma was awarded by Shri RajiveKaul and the convocation address was delivered by Shri Suresh Narayanan.

In his address, Father Paul, the director congratulated the graduating students. He urged them to keep the belief in hard work, excellence and sincerity strong and always rekindle the core values imparted to them even in trying times. In his speech Father Paul highlighted the achievements of the institute, faculty and students in the year 2015-2016 which made XIMB proud. "Go forth and make a mark; lead an extraordinary life", he told the students.

The director Mr. Rajive Kaul spoke about the economic scenario of the world. Showing his faith in the youth of the nation, he said "India has a young population and a rapidly growing middle class and I am sure all of you will be deeply involved as an integral part of this growth story of future India."

For the past 29 years XIMB has set a benchmark in the field of management education and has helped build the nation by educating young minds. Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB) was established 28 years ago. XIMB is now Flagship B-School of Xavier University Bhubaneshwar (XUB). XUB was established in accordance with the Xavier University Act 2013 and was inaugurated on the 7th of July 2014. The University is India’s first digital University and an institution of higher learning for imparting professional and technical education.

XUB offers Masters in Business Management through its flagship school, XIMB; Masters in Human Resource Management through Xavier School of Human Resource Management; Masters in Rural Management through Xavier School of Rural Management; Masters in Sustainability Management through Xavier School of Sustainability and graduate programme in commerce through Xavier School of Commerce. Apart from these it has proposed to set up other schools of higher learning in various areas like Public Policy, Sustainability, Media & Communications, Finance, Education and Centers of Research in Public Policy & others.
Counted among the leading management institutions in the country, XIMB has been awarded A*** grading by CRISIL. The B school offers 2 years full time Post graduate programme in Management and Post graduate Programme in Human Resource Management.
