CAT 2018 Registration  last date is extended to September 26, 2018 till 5 PM from earlier September 19. Announcing the extended last date for CAT registration and application, IIM Calcutta, the CAT exam convener has shared, “CAT 2018 Registration ends on Sep 26, 2018 (5:00 PM), Wednesday." CAT 2018 exam is scheduled on November 25, 2018.

Re-upload Blur Photo: Application Edit Allowed from Sep 27
For the first time CAT Convener has allowed to re-upload the photograph on CAT application form. IIM Calcutta will open the CAT application Edit option facility from September 27 to September 30, 2018. Candidates will be able to edit their application form during the 4 days period. However, no personal details will be allowed to be edited during this period. The Applications will be allowed to:

  • Re-upload their blur photographs. “Candidates with improper/blur photographs can login and re-upload their photograph from Sep 27, 2018 (10:00 AM) to Sep 30, 2018 (5:00 PM)” confirms IIM Calcutta
  • The Edit option is valid only for those candidates who have paid applicable Registration Fee and have registered successfully for CAT 2018 before the specified deadline.

This is the first time that the candidates have been allowed to re-upload their photographs. IIM Calcutta is conducting CAT 2018 and has announced that CAT 2018 will have a combination of MCQs and Non-MCQs to provide level playing field to the students of all streams. With an increase of Rs.100/- in its exam fee to Rs.1900/-, the last date to apply for CAT 2018 has been extended for another 7 days. It will serve a good opportunity for the candidates living in the areas which have recently been hit by floods and where internet services were badly hit.

No change in the CAT 2018 exam pattern has been announced by the CAT convening IIM Calcutta. Besides, the CAT exam duration remains of three hours with 100 questions divided in three sections, as was the last year.

Now one thing CAT 2018 aspirants have to make sure is that they must not expect any further extension and should finalize their registration preferably before September 26, 2018 and avoid the deadline as the last minute rush can again put them into technical glitches and they may miss the chance to get into any IIM or other top B-schools like FMS, IMI, IMT, MDI, NITIE, SPJIMR, TAPMI among others.

Already registered? Opportunity to make payment now
If you are an already registered candidate but have not made payment as yet for CAT 2018 registration fee, the work can be completed now without any delay. CAT 2018 exam convener has extended the CAT 2018 registration end date for you. In fact, CAT convener has acceded to the request of thousands of such candidates who have not completed their CAT registration process and despite filling up the registration details have not made the CAT 2018 registration/application fee payment till date.

This is the last opportunity to complete your application in next four days preferably avoiding the last day as heavy rush could create problem in transmitting your CAT fee payment.

New Candidate? Last chance to apply for CAT 2018
If you wish to apply for CAT 2018 but have missed the opportunity, you have 7 days before you to fill up your CAT 2018 online registration and application form till September 26, 2018.

Avoid petty mistakes
It is very much necessary that you are clear on what you have to fill in the CAT 2018 registration form and how to complete it. Petty mistakes can lead you to go for re-registration as your earlier registration will become invalid and you may have to shell out another chunk of Rs.1900/-.

Be careful to insert DoB
As per the registration instructions for CAT 2018, no amendment is possible in Date of Birth after making the payment for registration and clicking the  submit button. Format for filling up the date of birth is DD/MM/YYYY in CAT 2018 registration form and a candidate is not required to write it since the calendar icon has to be used to select the correct date.

How to upload Photograph & signature
Upload the photograph and signature of required size and style in personal details section of CAT 2018 registration form.  Scan the photograph and signature and then upload them. Check for the required photo resolution. CAT 2018 registration form wants you to upload your recent passport size photograph in .JPEG, .JPG formats.

CAT 2018 convening IIM Calcutta has clarified well on the size and style of photograph and signature which you need to upload in the CAT 2018 registration form. It will be better to understand and then upload the photograph.

Apply early
CAT aspirants should register early without waiting for the last date again. In past also, CAT conveners had advised the candidates to adhere to following don’ts while going to finalize their CAT registrations-

  • Don’t wait till last day and register in advance
  • Don’t rule out the last day technical glitches
  • Don’t let your money stuck in transit on last day due to more response time
  • Don’t invite last minute inconvenience due to heavy rush that may increase load on servers
  • Don’t expect extension in last date of CAT 2018 registration

Going by the trends of previous years, there will be a huge surge in the number of registrations in the last 2-3 days, which increases the load on the servers, and can potentially impact the server response time. Therefore, candidates are strongly advised to register early and avoid last minute inconvenience.

In fact the CAT registration window whenever extended, the thought behind providing this facility is to accede to the candidates’ genuine request and help those who are serious on taking CAT exam and not for the candidates who are always late and are fond of getting into technical glitches at the last moment registration instead of finalizing the things well in time.

To avoid any sort of technical glitches at the last minute while uploading the documents, photograph or signature, the best is to submit it now.
