CMAT 2019 Analysis: Slot-2 Over with Tricky LR, Difficult Verbal; Overall Moderate Exam

CMAT 2019 exam had 100 questions in MCQ format. There were 4 sections with 25 MCQs in each section. The CMAT 2019 was conducted in 3 hours duration in shift-1 and shift-2.

- Each correct answer is awarded 4 marks in CMAT 2019
- Every wrong answer carries a penalty of -1 negative mark

CMAT Slot 1 Analysis
With a tough Verbal, time taking DI and twisted GK questions, CMAT 2019 slot-1 exam has got over at 12.30PM on January 28, 2018 all over the country except at Srinagar (J&K) where the test has been rescheduled for January 29, 2019 as the road between Jammu and Srinagar is blocked due to heavy snowfall.CMAT 2019 Slot-1 has remained on predictable lines with moderate difficulty level but slightly more difficult Data Interpretation, tough Verbal section and twisted GK. The CMAT cut off for MBA admission 2019 is expected not to go high in top MBA colleges accepting CMAT score.

This is the first time that CMAT is conducted in two slots – morning and afternoon. Besides, CMAT 2019 is conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) instead of AICTE which used to conduct the exam till 2018.
CMAT 2019 Slot-1 has been reported a successful and glitch free exam. The exam was conducted from 9.30AM to 12.30PM. The test began on time and did not face technical issues although few stray cases of technical glitch were reported.
Live coverage at one of the CMAT 2019 test centres revealed more students reporting Logical Reasoning and General Awareness sections as bit more difficult than Quant and Language Comprehension.
CMAT 2019 is the last exam providing the opportunity to CAT 2018 and XAT 2019 test takers who have scored between 50 to 70 percentile to improve their scores and get admission opportunity in many top MBA colleges like JBIMS, SIMSREE, K J Somaiya, GIM Goa among others.

CMAT 2019 Sectional Analysis
Shift-1 of CMAT 2019 had 100 questions equally divided in four sections which had MCQs with varying difficulty level. Here is Section wise CMAT 2019 Exam Analysis:
- Language Comprehension
- Total Questions: 25
- 4 RC Passages followed by total 15 Questions
- 3 RC passages on Endangered Language; Parenting; Developed & Developing countries were of moderate difficulty
- Each of the 3 RC passages was followed by 3 questions
- 1 RC passage on Steve Jobs was of higher difficulty level and was followed by 6 questions which were not direct and were inference based and also included reasoning questions.
- Verbal Ability questions included Antonyms, Odd one Out, Grammar based questions, Jumbled paragraphs
- Few questions were based on one word substitution. For example candidates were asked to substitute one word for ‘Reinventing the Wheel’
- Section difficulty was moderate to tough
2. Quantitative Techniques and Data Interpretation
- Total Questions: 25
- Quant part in CMAT 2019 remained moderate
- More questions were on Arithmetic
- Few questions were based on Ratio. One of the questions on Ratio in Quant was - Average of marks scored by men in a class is 70 & that of women is 83. The overall average of the class is 76. Find the ratio of men: women.
- Another question was - The ratio of L:B:H of a cuboid is 1:2:3. If each side is increased by 100% find the overall increase in volume
- Data Interpretation questions were individual ones and not in sets
- 2 DI questions were there. One was on the pie chart to calculate the market share & other on student table to identify the topper of the class based on the table of subjects & students
- DI section has remained a bit more time consuming
- Overall section has remained moderate
3. Logical Reasoning
- Total questions: 25
- Section was of moderate difficulty level
- Questions were individual ones instead of in sets of 3 or 4 MCQs
- Topics on which questions were formed are family puzzles, strong argument &
- conclusion, distance & direction based, analogy
- Some of the questions were to find the same relation that exists between CUP:LIP ::Bird:? The correct answer option was Beak; another one was Hen: Chick:: Frog:? The correct answer option was tadpole
- Another question was to Identify odd one out vision, cornea, retina, pupil
- One question in the section was 'Which of the following is necessary for swimming?’ Answer options were water, pool, suit, life jacket
- One question on family relation was – ‘Pointing to a photo of Ankur, Shruti said "His father is the only son of my grandfather. How is Ankur related to Shruti?’
4. General Awareness
- Total Questions 25
- A few GK questions were twisted
- Most of the GK questions were based on Static & Current GK
- A few questions were on Planning commission of India; Who heads GST Council; Credit rating agency of India; NPCI full form; Member countries of SAARC – the specific question was - Which of the following is not the member of SAARC
- Overall GK section was moderate

CMAT 2019 Shift-2 Exam at 2.30PM
CMAT 2019 Shift-2 exam is scheduled from 2.30PM to 5.30PM. It is expected that Shift-2 CMAT 2019 also remains on the same difficulty level as that of CMAT shirt-1 exam. The reporting time for CMAT 2019 shift-2 exam is 1PM.
