
IIFT has released the shortlist of 3948 candidates for final selection round for MBA (IB) admission 2023 based on the performance in IIFT MBA entrance exam which was conducted on December 18 and 27, 2022 and other components. IIFT has also released the shortlisting cut offs and weightages as applied in shortlisting process. The final selection round of IIFT admission 2023 will consist of Writing Skill Assessment, Group Discussion and Personal Interview, which will be conducted in offline mode at various cities across the country. Candidates are informed about the date, time and venue of these events on their registered e-mail IDs.
Out of the 30,622 Candidates who applied for the exam, 26,070 Candidates appeared in the IIFT entrance exam on December 18, 2022. National Testing Agency (NTA) which conducted IIFT Entrance exam released the exam result on Feb 10, and now IIFT has released shortlist based on following components and respective weightages for Group Discussion, Writing Skill Test and Personal Interview:

IIFT Shortlist for MBA (IB) 2023-25 Batch: Important Changes
- The short listing of candidates for Writing Skill Test/GD/PI has been done on the basis of IIFT entrance exam percentiles including sectional cut offs.
- The minimum cut-off percentile has been decided based on the number of candidates shortlisted as per the availability of seats.
- The cut-off marks for female candidates across all categories are 2 less than the actual cut-off in line with IIFT’s policy of gender diversity.
- In addition to the above stated criterion, Marks obtained in X, and XII, have been considered
- To ensure balance in class composition at IIFT, 5 points have been awarded to Non Engineers.
IIFT Final Selection 2023: WAT-GD/Extempore-PI
The shortlisted candidates have to go through the following process:
IIFT scores carry the maximum weightage and additional criteria of academic consistency, academic diversity, gender diversity, work experience will be used for final selection.
In addition to this, the candidate have to appear for the following:
1. Writing Skill Test (WAT): The shortlisted candidates have to submit an essay on a given topic. The evaluation will be mainly based on clarity and ability to comprehend and the technique of presentation and expression of ideas.
2. Group Discussion (GD): The shortlisted candidates have to discuss on a given topic in groups. The evaluation of GD will be on the ability of the candidate to demonstrate leadership skills, team player skills, communication, content and ability to give new insights on the topic.
3. Personal Interview: The shortlisted candidates have to appear for personal interview. The evaluation is based on academic, extra curricular and analytical performance of the candidate

6.1 IIFT Eligibility Criteria 2023 with Completed Qualification
To meet the IIFT eligibility 2023, the applicant must have obtained a recognized bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years’ duration in any discipline with 50% marks.
6.2 IIFT Eligibility Criteria 2023 for Final Year Students of Qualifying Exam
The candidates appearing for a qualifying examination (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) are also eligible to apply for IIFT 2023 Admission subject to submission of proof of requisite qualification by October, 2023 first week.

After the IIFT entrance exam result is declared by National Testing Agency, IIFT shortlists more than 2800 candidates who have appeared in the IIFT entrance test. The ratio of shortlisted candidates to the IIFT MBA seats is roughly 1:4. Last year IIFT shortlisted 2873 candidates and placed 725 candidates in the merit list for its Delhi and Kolkata campuses. Step-3: Final Selection Criteria in IIFT Admission Process 2023
Final Selection Round in IIFT Admission Process 2023 will consist of following components and weightages
3.1: Extempore, WAT & PI
- The candidates short listed from the IIFT computer based test, will be called for Essay Writing Test, Extempore and Personal Interview to be held in February/March 2023 at Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow and Mumbai.
- IIFT scores, academic consistency, academic diversity, gender diversity, work experience will be used for final selection
3.2: Evaluation process for WAT, Extempore and PI
- Writing Ability Test (WAT): The shortlisted candidates have to submit an essay on a given topic. The evaluation will be mainly based on clarity and ability to comprehend and the technique of presentation and expression of ideas
- Extempore: The shortlisted candidates have to speak on a given topic. The evaluation of Extempore will be on the ability of the candidate to demonstrate communication skills, content and ability to give new insights on the topic.
- Personal Interview: The shortlisted candidates have to appear for personal interview. The evaluation is based on academic, extra curricular and analytical performance of the candidate
Step-4: Merit List Generation in IIFT Admission Process 2023: Final Admission Offer

9. IIFT Campus Highlights
Brief Details of IIFT campuses and infrastructure facilities are shared below:
9.1 IIFT Delhi Campus
- IIFT Delhi has two campuses one is located in Qutub Institutional Area overlooking green ridge and historical Qutub Minar
- The strategic location of the campus gives students access to various MNCs located in Delhi SEZ and Gurugram
- Another campus of IIFT, spread over 5-6 acres, is located at Maidan Garhi, New Delhi. It is under construction and will be operational soon.
- The Delhi campus of IIFT is picturesque with artistically designed buildings and well-maintained plush gardens
- Delhi campus is spread over 6.5 acres of land and houses two academic blocks and two residential blocks for students and visiting faculty
- Facilities available on the IIFT Delhi campus include, fully AC Lecture halls with audio-visual aids, conference halls for round-table conferences, Auditorium of 450 seating capacity, two computer labs, indoor games, sports ground and residential facilities for the students.
- IIFT Delhi campus is fully wi-fi enabled
9.2 IIFT Kolkata Campus
- IIFT Kolkata campus is located in its own premises in East Kolkata off EM Bypass in an area of 7 acres.
- The campus is developed as a green and fully integrated campus with independent blocks for academic, administration and student living areas with all modern amenities.
- Kolkata campus houses three water bodies to maintain ecological diversity with enough greenery.
- The campus consists of centrally air-conditioned modern lecture halls, syndicate rooms, common area, auditorium, open air theatre, common courtyard in its academic and administration blocks.
- The campus is fully wi-fi enabled.
9.3 IIFT Kakinada Campus Launched in 2022: Offers 5 Year Integrated MBA Program
IIFT has launched its third campus at Kakinanda (Andhra Pradesh) from the academic session 2022-23 with an intake of 60 students. The new Kakinada campus offers 5 Year Integrated MBA Programme. IIFT IPM programme commences from September 2022 in temporary campus of IIFT at JawaharLal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), Kakinada (Andhra Pradesh). The programme aims at imparting managerial and decision making capabilities to young professionals along with integrating management education with Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
9.4 IIFT Campus Facilities
IIFT also offers impeccable in-house campus facilities and infrastructure. The library holds 84,000 volumes and subscriptions to 800 journals with complete online cataloguing. It has a unique collection of UN, ITC, UNCTAD, WTO, IMF, World Bank and other international agencies. The students have access to the database such as the Bloomberg, World Trade Atlas, NIC, CMIE, India Trades and other audio-visual aids on management. The Foreign Trade Library has an organized collection of Information resources on International Business & Economic Environment, which are accessible in printed or e-form.
10. IIFT MBA Business Analytics Programme: Highlights, Eligibility, Selection Process
- IIFT has launched 2 years full time MBA (Business Analytics) programme from the academic year 2023-25
- MBA-BA will be offered at Delhi Campus
- IIFT MBA-BA will be a Non-Residential Programme
- The programme will provide a synergy to the existing MBA programme in International Business as students from both streams will benefit from a vast pool of courses that will be offered.
- Both the MBA programmes will stand independently and mutually benefit each other.
- Detailed brochure on IIFT MBA Business Analytics Admission will be released at the beginning of the registration process tentatively in second week of December 2022.
10.1 IIFT MBA-Business Analytics Intake: 60 Students
IIFT MBA Business Analytics seats for the first batch would be 60.
10.2 IIFT MBA Business Analytics Eligibility Criteria
For admission 2023, IIFT MBA Business Analytics eligibility criteria will be as below:
- The candidate must hold a Bachelor's degree with minimum 50% marks in aggregate or 5.0 CGPA out of 10. The student should have Mathematics/ Statistics as one of the subjects at Graduation level. OR
- Candidates must hold B. Tech / B.E degree in any discipline from a recognized university/institute with at least 50% marks in aggregate or 5.0 CGPA out of 10. OR
- The candidate must hold a Bachelor's degree with minimum 50% marks in aggregate or 5.0 CGPA out of 10, with Mathematics as a subject at 10+2 level. Applied Mathematics in 10+2 will not be considered.
10.3 IIFT MBA Business Analytics Selection Process
Exams Accepted
- Applicants should appear in IIFT MBA IB Entrance exam on December 18, 2022 to be conducted by NTA
- For short-listing/selecting the candidates, IIFT will use score of MBA (IB) entrance examination
- Candidates having valid GMAT Score are also eligible to apply
Final Selection
- Final Selection will be based on the score obtained in IIFT MBA-IB entrance examination or GMAT score, performance in Extempore and PI, academic performance in class 10th and 12th and work experience.
- Some weightage will also be given to female candidates to bring in Gender Diversity in the programme.
11. IIFT Admission 2024
Many young students who are in the second year or third year of their bachelor’s degree course and wish to appear in IIFT for IIFT Delhi/Kolkata MBA admission 2023, are not eligible this year, but can apply for IIFT MBA admission 2024 through IIFT 2024. For the last few years IIFT MBA admission policy has remained on same lines and it is expected that the IIFT MBA admission 2024 process will remain on similar lines like this year. You need to begin your IIFT preparation and by the time you become eligible to appear in IIFT 2024, you would have completed a large part of your preparation which will help you score high in the IIFT entrance exam and improve your chances for IIFT admission 2024.
