IIFT Celebrates 62nd Foundation Day: Commerce Minister Shri Piyush Goyal congratulates IIFT; Vice Chancellor Prof. Rakesh Mohan Joshi highlights key achievements
Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), a top university and business school in India, celebrated its 62nd Foundation Day on May 2, 2025 at its New Delhi campus. Shri Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, congratulated IIFT for playing a pivotal role in equipping young minds with the relevant skills in international business and trade. In his welcome address, Prof. Rakesh Mohan Joshi, Vice Chancellor, IIFT, highlighted institute’s journey and many recent achievements.

Established in 1963, IIFT functions under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of the Government of India. It also serves as a training institute for the probationary officers of the Indian Trade Service.
Shri Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, extended his wishes and said, “Warm greetings to the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade on its 62nd Foundation Day. IIFT Foundation Day 2025 was graced by distinguished dignitaries Padma Shri Chamu Krishna Shastry, Chairman, Bharatiya Bhasha Samiti, Ministry of Education, Government of India; Padma Shri Surendra Sharma, renowned Indian poet, satirist, and humorist; Prof. B. Bhattacharyya, Former Director, IIFT; and Prof. A.K. Sengupta, Former Director, IIFT. The event was also attended by faculty and staff members, prominent alumni, faculty members, and staff and students. Hindi edition of IIFT’s official magazine, Yagya Patrika, was also unveiled.
Established in 1963, the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade is a Deemed to be University under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. It offers MBA (International Business), Executive Programmes, PhD, and certificate courses, and is recognized for its strong emphasis on research, policy formulation, and capacity building in the domain of global trade. International trade and management expert Rakesh Mohan Joshi took charge as Vice Chancellor of IIFT in June 2024.
