IIMs Admission Shortlist 2022: IIM Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Lucknow, Kozhikode, Indore to Release Shortlists Early; Check Status
IIM Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Lucknow, Kozhikode, Indore are expected to release their shortlists much earlier than other IIMs for final selection process as per their admission policy after declaration of CAT 2021 result in January 2022 first week. Last year IIM Kozhikode was the first one to release the shortlist followed by IIM Ahmedabad. Many IIMs may drop the GD-WAT process and may conduct online PI for final admission
Top IIMs – IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta, IIM Lucknow, IIM Kozhikode, IIM Indore are likely to release shortlist 2022 much earlier than other IIMs for final selection process for the batch 2022-24 after declaration of CAT 2021 result in January 2022 first week. Other top IIMs like IIM Shillong, Rohtak and CAP participating new and baby IIMs will also release their shortlist in January/February 2022.
The top IIMs including IIM Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Lucknow, Indore, Kozhikode and others announce the weightage for the components in shortlisting process much ahead of the CAT exam result declaration.
You will be able to check your Shortlist status by login at respective IIM website and in case you are shortlisted, you should immediately follow the instructions in regard to submission of online interview form by the stipulated date, check your PI-WAT date, time and place.
A few IIMs like IIM Kozhikode, IIM Rohtak would need your SoP which you should submit as per the respective IIM requirement. Many IIMs may drop the GD-WAT process and may conduct online PI in final selection round due to Covid pandemic. The final selection result will consist of selected as well as waitlisted candidates.
IIM Shortlist by Top 7 IIMs
All the top 7 IIMs, IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta, IIM Lucknow, IIM Kozhikode, IIM Indore will release the shortlists immediately after the CAT exam result.
IIMs Shortlist by CAP Participating IIMs
Next will be all the CAP participating 9 IIMs who will release the shortlists. These 9 CAP participating IIMs will release the shortlist for Common Admission Process (CAP) 2022.
Baby IIMs like IIM Bodh Gaya, IIM Jammu among others will offer two different admission opportunities at different cut offs. Higher cut offs are announced for shortlisiting for CAP 2022 and lower cut off will be required for their own selection process, to be conducted after CAP round.
Other IIMs Shortlists
IIM Shillong, IIM Rohtak, IIM Amritsar, IIM Nagpur, IIM Visakhapatnam will release the shortlists in February/March 2022. The final selection process will begin after shortlist announcement.
IIM Rohtak which is not participating in new IIM CAP 2022 will independently conduct its admission process online and the candidates need to register and apply for admission separately at IIM Rohtak. The shortlist will be released in February 2022 from among the candidates who have applied for admission.

IIM Shortlist Criteria 2022: Key Parameters
IIM shortlist criteria 2022 focus more on student quality which is not just measured only by CAT exam scores. As such candidate’s profile plays an important role. Besides, a candidate with diverse profile is also preferred by IIMs to improve diversity in their Class rooms. Accordingly IIM Shortlist criteria 2022 focus mainly on following 3 Parameters:
- CAT 2021 Exam Scores: Each IIM shortlist criteria specify its minimum required sectional as well as overall percentile score in the range of 70 to 95 percentile
- Academic Profile & Diversity: IIMs shortlist criteria award weightage to excellent academic record till graduation and to the candidates coming from Non-Engineering back ground. Female candidates are also awarded weightage to promote gender diversity in IIM class rooms
- Work Experience: If a candidate has a work experience between 2 and 3 years in a supervisory cadre, good weightage in the range of 5 to 20 percent is awarded in IIM shortlisting criteria to become eligible for GD-PI-WAT round

IIM Ahmedabad (IIMA) Shortlist: Check Shortlisting Criteria, Highlights
IIM Ahmedabad will release PI shortlist for PGP and PGP FABM programmes simultaneously. The shortlist will be released immediately after release of CAT exam result. After the release of IIM Ahmedabad shortlist, candidates can check their admission status by login with their CAT 2021 registration number and email ID at IIM Ahmedabad PGP admission 2022 website. Shortlisted candidates will need to submit online Interview Form at IIM Ahmedabad website by the stipulated date and time
Last Year IIM Ahmedabad Shortlist: Key Highlights
- 1246 candidates were shortlisted for PI-WAT round by IIM Ahmedabad
- CAT cut off had gone down to 80.75 percentile from 83.32 for general category
- For EWS category CAT cut off had gone down to 85.34 percentile from 90.75 earlier
- 940 out of 1246 shortlisted candidates were male constituting 75% of shortlisted candidates
- 67% candidates were engineers in the IIMA shortlist

IIM Bangalore (IIMB) Shortlist: Shortlisting Criteria, Highlights
IIM Bangalore will release PI shortlist around 10-12 days after declaration of CAT exam result. Last year, IIMB shortlist was released in evening on January 17, 2021. The PI-WAT round began in February and continued till second week of March. IIM Bangalore conducted the PI-WAT round in Bangalore, New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Hyderabad on different dates.

Focused more on academic profile, IIM Bangalore shortlist was prepared considering candidate’s academic performance, quality of work experience among others. CAT score was not the only point in IIM Bangalore shortlisting criteria.

IIM Calcutta shortlist 2022 will be released around 20 days after the declaration of CAT exam result. Last year IIMC released the shortlist on January 25, 2021. IIM Calcutta has changed the title of its flagship 2 years full time management program to MBA from PGP. IIM Calcutta Shortlist: Key Highlights
- IIM Calcutta was the last among the top three IIMs to release its shortlist for PI round
- IIM Calcutta conducted PI round online instead of in-person interviews
- CAT Cut off was reduced to 85 percentile
- CAT sectional cut off for Quantitative Ability reduced to 75 percentile for General category
- For other categories also QA minimum required percentile was reduced to 65 and below
- Weightage for CAT score reduced to 56% in shortlisting for PI round
- Weightage for Academics and Diversity was increased to 44% in shortlisting process
- 15% weightage for Bachelor’s degree awarded in shortlisting

IIM Lucknow (IIML) Shortlist: Shortlisting Criteria, Highlights

IIM Lucknow Shortlist: Key Highlights
- 8044 candidates were shortlisted for WAT & PI Round
- Candidates shortlisted for PGP, PGP-ABM and PGP-SM program 2021-23 batch in different categories could check their programme wise status
- Blank cell in the shortlist as released by IIM Lucknow meant that the candidates had not qualified for the respective programme

IIM Kozhikode (IIMK) Shortlist: Shortlisting Criteria, Highlights
IIM Kozhikode will release the shortlist 2022 within 3-4 days after declaration of CAT exam result. Last year IIM Kozhikode shortlist was released on January 7, 2021 for final selection round for PGP 2021-23 batch. IIM Kozhikode Shortlisting Criteria
Last year, IIM Kozhikode released the shortlist of candidates for PI stage on the basis of five parameters. IIMK shortlisting criteria included - CAT score, academic scores of class X and XII and Academic & Gender diversity, work experience. There was no weightage to the academic scores after class 12.
IIMK shortlist was prepared in each category and was created based on an Aggregate Index Score (AIS). The AIS was computed based on the performance in CAT , Class X and XII marks and diversity. The weight of each component in the AIS was as follows:

IIM Kozhikode Shortlist: Key Points
- Registration for Stage 2 shortlist was required. The process was closed in a week’s time after release date
- Only those candidates who had successfully completed the online registration process for IIM Kozhikode were considered for Stage 2
IIM Indore (IIMI) Shortlist: Shortlisting Criteria, Highlights
IIM Indore shortlist 2022 will be released in the third week of January 2022. Last year also IIM Indore released the shortlist on January 18, 2021. Final selection process began in February.
IIM Indore Shortlisting Criteria
IIM Indore will shortlist the candidates for WAT & PI stage on the basis of composite scores which are arrived at by accounting for the academic profile also. The Composite Score therefore is calculated on the basis of CAT score, academic scores, and gender diversity. There is no weightage to the academic scores beyond class 12. IIM Rohtak Shortlist: Key Instructions
- Candidate needed to submit an application/ admission data form along with registration fee of Rs. 2000/- by January 21
- The candidates, who submitted the application forms and registration fees by the stipulated date and time, were considered and invited (as per merit) for the Online Personal Interview (PI)
- Shortlisted candidates received an email with a web-link for online registration in PGP batch. Candidates needed to create their Login ID (USER NAME & PASSWORD for online registration.
Top IIMs Shortlist: Many 99 Percentilers are not in IIMs Shortlists
What is noteworthy is that even hundreds of CAT Toppers and 99 Percentilers do not find place in the IIM shortlisting criteria & Admissions in the top IIMs. On the other hand, candidates with percentile below 90 can find place in IIM shortlisting due to their profile, academic diversity despite scoring low in CAT exam.
CAP Participating IIMs Shortlist 2022
Nine new IIMs conduct Common Admission Process (CAP) for MBA admission. This Common Admission Process (CAP) 2022 will be common for IIM Bodh Gaya, IIM Jammu, IIM Kashipur, IIM Raipur, IIM Ranchi, IIM Sambalpur, IIM Sirmaur, IIM Trichy and IIM Udaipur. CAP comprises common WAT (Depends upon the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic situation and Govt. guidelines) and PI round for these nine IIMs and will be conducted as final selection round from February to March 2022 in three phases.
Last year IIM Raipur conducted Common Admission Process for the 9 new IIMs who participated in the CAP process. This year some other new IIM may conduct CAP. IIM Rohtak has opted out of CAP and will release its shortlist for PI round separately.
IIMs Shortlist 2022: Baby IIMs Shortlist based on Two Different Cut offs
All the 7 Baby IIMs, whether they are participating in CAP 2022 or are conducting independent PI round will ask the candidates to apply and reconfirm their interest for admission in them by the stipulated date before considering their candidature for final admission. The release dates for all the newest IIMs shortlist 2022 will be announced in March 2022. .
Two Admission Chances for CAP Participating Baby IIMs
Out of the four CAP 2022 participating baby IIMs - IIM Bodhgaya, IIM Jammu, IIM Sambalpur, IIM Sirmaur, the two –IIM Bodh Gaya and IIM Jammu have different shortlisting criteria for CAP and for their own selection round.
Higher cut offs are announced for the CAP round and lower cut offs are announced for their own selection process after CAP is over. These IIMs have clarified that the Candidates who have not received call from CAP will receive separate communication from these IIMs based on their respective shortlist criteria given in their admission policy. CAP Participating IIM Bodh Gaya Shortlist: Criteria, Selection Process

IIM Bodh Gaya Shortlisting Criteria: Key Highlights
While the shortlisting criteria for CAP was common for all the participating IIMs at 93 percentile, the key changes in IIM Bodhgaya minimum cut offs and admission criteria were as below
- CAT Cut off was kept at 90 percentile
- CAT sectional cut off reduced to 70 percentile
- Cut off for the female applicants reduced to 87 percentile for final admission
- 2% Weightage Awarded to female candidates
- EWS category reservation as per GoI norms has started

CAP Participating IIM Jammu Shortlist: Criteria, Selection Process
IIM Jammu will participate in CAP 2022. Last year also, IIMJ participated in CAP and released the shortlist for PI round with a different cut off for CAP and for its own selection round which was conducted after CAP was over.
IIM Jammu Shortlisting Criteria for CAP
The minimum cut-offs of CAT percentile required in each section and overall percentile for shortlisting candidates for personal interview were common for all the participating 9 IIMs. The shortlisting criteria was changed further for all the CAP participating IIMs including IIM Jammu, as under:

IIM Jammu Cut offs: Minimum Cut off for Female Candidates
With a view to improve Gender Diversity, IIM Jammu applied the following cut offs in shortlisting the female candidates for CAP round. The female candidates who were shortlisted due to these cut-offs were considered after CAP round was over

How IIMs Shortlist are announced as per IIM Admission Criteria?
The criteria being adopted by IIMs to announce the shortlist for final selection round is changed every year in accordance to respective IIM Admission policy for the forthcoming batch. IIM Admission criteria 2022 now focus more on academic diversity, gender diversity and diverse profile of the applicants alongwith the quality of work experience. Accordingly the IIM Shortlist criteria is changed by awarding less weightage to CAT score and higher weightage to other skills of the candidates as incorporated in the IIM admission criteria
