IIM Tiruchirappalli has released the final result for admission to PGPM & PGPM-HR 2020-22 batch after getting the CAP round merit score from the CAP coordinating IIM Ranchi. IIM Trichy released the shortlist of candidates with the 94 percentile in CAT 2019 for Common Admission Process (CAP) which was the final selection process and consisted of WAT and PI. The process was common to IIMs which participated in CAP

IIM Tiruchirappalli has released the second list of selected candidates and also the remaining active wait list on June 6, 2020. The final admission 2020 result for PGPM & PGPM-HR 2020-22 batch was already released after getting the CAP round merit score from the CAP coordinating IIM Ranchi. You can check your admission status on IIM Trichy admission website by entering your CAT 2019 registration number and Date of Birth. Only those candidates who have been selected for admission or are waitlisted can check the admission status.

How to Check Your Admission Status and finalize Programme Preference?

  • After login with your CAT ID and Date of Birth on the IIM Trichy Admission Portal, an OTP will be sent to your registered email id and mobile number
  • Please note OTP will be valid for only 3 minutes. After 3 minutes, you have to regenerate (resend) the OTP again
  • If a Candidate opted for both the Programmes, he/she has to choose their Preference Course 1 (PGPM/PGPM-HR) in the dashboard. After that, dashboard will be loaded wherein they can see their course-wise status (Offered / Waitlist).
  • If a candidate gets offer for both the programmes, the preference set during the login will be final and he/she will not get a chance to change the preference later
  • Candidates, therefore, should be very careful while selecting the preferences during login
  • If a candidate gets offer for both the programmes, he/she will be allowed to make payment only for the first preferred course and the second preference course will be inactive
  • The candidates will not be allowed to change the preference later
  • When the Candidates “Click” on the status, all the details related to that Programme including payment option, offer letter/ waitlist letter will be shown

Finally Selected Candidate to pay Rs. 2 Lakhs as Offer Acceptance Fee

  • The Candidates who are offered admission, have to pay an amount of Rs.2,00,000/- as Offer Acceptance Fee within the due date mentioned in the offer letter
  • As mentioned in the Offer Letter, the Offered Candidates will have to pay their remaining course fee within the due date and they should also submit their “Online Application Form” in time
  • The candidate has to click the ‘offered’ status on the dashboard to pay the course fee by clicking the Course fee payment button.

Waitlist Candidates to Pay Rs.20 Thousand to remain Active in Waitlist

  • Waitlisted Candidates have to pay an amount of Rs.20,000/- as Waitlist Acceptance Fee within the due date to remain in the Active Waitlist
  • Only those who have paid Rs.20,000/- as Waitlist Acceptance Fee, will be considered in the Active Waitlist
  • The second list will be generated from the active waitlist and will be published subsequently
  • Once the second list is published, the offered candidates have to pay their course fee and also should submit their “Online Application Form” within the due date as mentioned in the offer letter
  • Waitlist candidates (Second list onwards) can view their ‘Rank’ and ‘Offer made upto’ (Overall as well as Category wise) on their dashboard
  • Online payment modes and service charges are clearly given in the offer / waitlist letter.

How to change Program Preference?

  • If a Candidate gets offer in one course & waitlisted in another course, and later if he/she moves from the Waitlist to Offered for the second course, then the Candidate will again get an option on their dashboard to change their preference using Yes/No option buttons
  • If they don’t change the preference (‘No’ Option) then the system will proceed as per the preference selected by the candidate during their initial login
  • If the candidate changes the preference (‘Yes’ option) the preference set during the initial login will be reversed
  • After the completion of this process, you will not be allowed to change your course preference again
  • During the processing of these options, there would be option for transferring the money from one course to the other and for the withdrawal/adjustment of the excess amount 

Upload Required Documents in Application Form
All the necessary documents, as under, have to be uploaded in the respective sections during the filling of the online application form. Before filling the Online Application Form, keep the following documents ready in  soft copy for uploading:

  • Photo Size (Less than 1.5 MB in JPEG/JPG Format)
  • ID Proof (Less than 1.5 MB) – Aadhar Card/Driving License/Voter ID/PAN Card/Passport
  • Reservation Certificate (NC-OBC/SC/ST/DAP/EWS)
  • 10th & 12th Mark Sheets in PDF Format
  • UG – Degree Certificate in PDF Format
  • UD – Mark Sheets as Separate Files (Semester-wise / Year-wise)

It is recommended to use Firefox browser for the submission of the application form. If a candidate wants to sign-out / close the online form before submission, do not forget to save it before signing out so that the filled data will not be lost during next login. Even if you are not signing out, it is recommended to save the data in every 5 minutes.

IIM Trichy released the shortlist in the last week of January 2020 for Common Admission Process (CAP). CAP is the final selection process and comprises Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI). The process that began in February 2020 was common to IIMs which have participated in CAP this year. This year CAP 2020 was coordinated by IIM Ranchi.  

More than 2500 candidates were shortlisted by IIM Tiruchirappalli. IIM Trichy shortlist 2020 is based on 100% weightage to CAT 2019 score. The shortlisting criteria for WAT and PI, admission centres were common for all CAP participating IIMs and were not decided by IIM Trichy. These were same for all participating institutes.

While IIM Tiruchirappalli awards high importance to CAT 2019 score in shortlisting the candidates for PI-WAT round, the final merit list has been prepared with a weightage of 50% to CAT 2019 exam score.

The two-year PGPM and PGPM-HR 2020-22 Programmes at IIM Trichy are full-time residential post-graduate degree courses. Although CAT 2019 is the mandatory exam for admission at IIM Trichy, the weightage awarded to CAT exam in final admission selection criteria 2020 has been 50% and rest 50% goes to other components like academics, diversity, work experience and performance in PI-WAT.

PGPM 2020-22 is the 10th batch at IIM Trichy. The batch size has increased to 260 students.  IIM Tiruchirappalli shortlisting criteria award high weightage to CAT 2019 score and candidate’s profile. The final admission process at IIM Trichy is based on CAT 2019 score, shortlist for Personal Appearance (PA), conduct of common PI & WAT round for participating IIMs and final admission offer.

IIM Tiruchirappalli Cut Off  
IIM Trichy Cut off 2020 has been liberalised for admission 2020 for the reserved category candidates. Only the candidates above the minimum cut-offs in the CAT 2019 sectional percentile ranks, the overall percentile rank and obtaining a positive (greater than zero) raw score in all sections of CAT-2019 are considered for shortlisting.

The table below indicates the minimum performance expected from candidates for shortlisting for the PI & WAT. However, achieving the cut-off percentile in CAT is a necessary but not sufficient condition for shortlisting by IIM Trichy.

IIM Tiruchirappalli decided the number of candidates called for the PI & WAT for each category, depending on which the cut off percentiles was also changed.

IIM Trichy has reduced the CAT score cut offs drastically for reserved category candidates in the shortlisting criteria for admission 2020. IIM Tiruchirappalli has made minor changes in its Admission Criteria 2020 for the flagship 2 years full time Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM) MBA programme.

IIM Tiruchippalli Shortlisting Process
IIM  Trichy announced the shortlist of candidates for Personal Appearance (PA) round which is CAP round. It used CAT 2019 percentile score for shortlisting candidates for PI & WAT:

  • The shortlisting for final selection round in IIM Trichy Admission Criteria awards 100% weight to CAT 2019 score.
  • The general candidate must have scored minimum sectional percentile of 80 in each of the three sections of CAT 2019 – Quantitative Aptitude' (QA), ‘Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning' (DILR) and ‘Verbal and Reading Comprehension' (VRC)
  • A general category candidate must have scored minimum overall percentile of 94 in CAT 2019
  • If the candidate does not score minimum prescribed percentile in CAT 2019, he/she is not considered for shortlisting for final selection stage.
  • All the Candidates shortlisted for PI-WAT process have to attend the CAP round which is a common process for all the participating IIMs

IIM Trichy Final Selection Criteria

  • All the shortlisted candidates should participate in PI-WAT round for admission to IIM Tiruchippalli
  • Personal Interview (PI) and Writing Ability Test (WAT) is conducted at New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai and Kolkata. 
  • The shortlisted candidates have to participate both in Personal Interview (PI) and Writing Ability Test (WAT).
  • The final selection round for IIM Trichy Admission is common for the new IIMs who are participating in the Common Admission Process (CAP) 2020.
  • The scores obtained by the candidate in WAT & PI of CAP 2020 would be considered for preparing the IIM Trichy merit list
  • IIM Trichy selection criteria after final admission round award 50% weight to CAT 2019  Score; 18% weight to Personal Interview(PI); 10% weight to Writing Ability Test (WAT); 10% Weight to Academic profile; 5% Weight to Work Experience; 5% weight to Gender Diversity and 2% Weight to professional Qualification.
  • Candidates who do not obtain certain minimum scores in the WAT & PI are not considered for the merit list. The minimum scores are decided by IIM Trichy at its discretion.

Step by Step Admission Process
Following steps are included in the IIM Tiruchirapplli Admission process:

  • Step 1: The candidate must have appeared and scored the minimum required sectional and overall percentile in CAT 2019, a major component for Shortlisting candidates for CAP 2020. Category wise short-lists of the candidates are prepared for Personal Interview (PI) and Written Ability Test (WAT) from among the candidates who have a valid CAT-2019 score, who have applied to the programme at the time of submitting the CAT 2019 application form and who satisfy the eligibility criteria for the programme of IIM Trichy.
  • Step 2: Shortlisted Candidates have to attend Common Admission Process (CAP) 2020 for the participating IIMs. CAP 2020 will begin in February 2020 and will consist of  both PI & WAT round in final selection process. Candidates not meeting the minimum performance in PI & WAT will not be considered for the final selection. The PI-WAT would be conducted at New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai and Kolkata. The exact date for PI & WAT will be communicated to the shortlisted candidates by IIM Ranchi which is coordinating CAP for 2020-22 batch on behalf of other participating IIMs.
  • Step 3: After the WAT & PI round, admission offers are made by IIM Trichy to successful candidates. The final selection is based on composite score of the candidates. This includes performance in CAT, performance in WAT & PI, academics, work experience, diversity among others. Category wise merit list will be generated based on weightages awarded to various components. 
  • Step 4: Final Admission Offer will be made to the candidates in the last week of April 2020 on the basis of Final Merit Score and will be available on IIM Tiruchirappalli website. You can expect to get admission in PGP 2020 at IIM Trichy with a CAT 2019 percentile of 92 and above, provided you fulfil other desired parameters for the B-school.

IIM Trichy: Campuses at Trichy & Chennai
IIM Trichy has two campuses. The main campus is at Tiruchirappalli which offers flagship 2 years full time Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM). The Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM) is recognized as equivalent to a Master’s Degree of an Indian University for the purpose of admission to higher studies, Association of Indian Universities.

The other campus of IIM Trichy is at Chennai that offers Post Graduate Programme in Business Management (PGPBM). The PGPBM is meant for working professionals only and the classes are conducted on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

IIM Trichy Moves to New Campus
IIM Trichy has moved to its newly built 175 acre permanent campus with world class amenities. The new campus was inaugurated on April 3, 2017 by the Union HRD Minister Mr Prakash Javadekar.

The new campus is built on the land area of 175 acres at a cost of Rs.772 crores and was constructed in a record 30 months. It is located at Trichy-Pudukkottai road near Chinna Suriyur village. IIM Tiruchirappalli inaugurated its 9th PGPM batch on June 24, 2019 with 235 students admitted to its flagship two-year full-time PGPM  programme – Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP).
