Here is some good news for IIM aspirants to start the New Year 2024. The IIM Common Admission Process 2024, popularly known as IIM CAP, for admission to select IIMs is set to commence very soon! IIM Kashipur has confirmed with MBAUniverse.com that they will indeed be conducting the IIM CAT 2024 process on behalf of participating IIMs. IIM Kashipur has also shared the date when this process will start, and other important points. Before we proceed with important announcements, here is a quick primer on IIM CAP process. IIM CAP Process was first held in 2015 with all the 6 new IIMs (at that time) namely IIM Tiruchirappalli, IIM Udaipur, IIM Kashipur, IIM Ranchi, IIM Raipur, IIM Rohtak coming together to conduct common PI round. Later, IIM Rohtak opted out of CAP round. With the launch of 7 more IIMs in 2015-16, the strength of CAP participating IIMs went up to nine as 4 more ‘baby IIMs’ (IIM Bodh Gaya, IIM Jammu, IIM Sambalpur, IIM Sirmaur) joined the process. this year IIM Nagpur has decided not to conduct its own Personal Interview (PI) round. Instead, IIMN has decided to join IIMs Common Admission Process (IIM CAP) 2024 to admit students for 2024-26 batch. As CAP is a single point selection process and is common for all the participating IIMs, candidates are not required to separately appear in a personal interview for each of the participating IIMs. However, Final Admission offers are finalized and released by the respective IIMs using different weightages for IIM CAP Round scores, CAT performance and other parameters.
IIM Kashipur to Conduct CAP 2024
After IIM Trichy and IIM Udaipur, who conducted the previous two IIM CAP process, IIM Kashipur is conducting Common Admission Process (CAP) 2024. This information was confirmed by the Director of IIM Kashipur Prof Kulbhushan Balooni with MBAUniverse.com.
Set up by the Government of India in 2011, IIM Kashipur is prominent second-generation IIM. It is located in a 200-acre campus, situated just 25 kms away from Jim Corbett National Park in the lap of Himalayas. Director Prof Balooni has been associated with the IIMs for more than 25 years. He was among the first faculty members who joined IIM Kozhikode in its first academic year (1997–1998). He served as IIM Kozhikode's Director i/c from September 2014 to June 2018. He also established and nurtured IIM Amritsar as Mentor Director. He has been Director of IIM Kashipur since June 2019.
IIM Kashipur’s Prof Abhradeep Maiti is Coordinator of CAP 2024
The role of IIM CAP Coordinator and Chairperson admissions of CAP conducting IIM is very crucial as it involves developing CAP policies and strategies, and ensuring flawless implementation. So, who is IIM CAP coordinator? IIM Kashipur has confirmed to us that Prof Abhradeep Maiti, Faculty and Admission Chair at IIM Kashipur, is the Coordinator of IIM CAP 2024. Prof Maiti is an Associate Professor of Economics at IIM Kashipur. He holds a PhD in Economics from Middle Tennessee State University (USA) and a Master’s degree in Economics from University of Oklahoma (USA).
IIM CAP 2024 Shortlisting Release Date is…
Here comes another important news for you. Sharing the CAP 2024 timelines with MBAUniverse.com, CAP Coordinator Prof Maiti said, “The Personal Interview (PI) Shortlisting Notification and Online registration will open tentatively in the last week of January 2024.”
So, the IIM CAP 2024 Shortlisting & Registration will start around January 23/24. Candidates can expect to receive a formal notification from IIM Kashipur if they have been shortlisted for IIM CAP Round 2024.
