Prof. Himanshu Rai Reappointed as Director of IIM Indore for Second Term
Prof Himanshu Rai is reappointed as the Director of IIM Indore for the second term and his tenure as the Director of the institute is extended till December 31, 2028. The Chairman of Board of Governors (BoG) M M Murugappan has announced the reappointment of Prof. Rai. Under the leadership of Prof Rai, IIM Indore got the triple crown accreditation of AMBA, AACSB and EQUIS and braved the challenge to conduct the CAT 2020 during Covid-19 pandemic on time
The Indian Institute of Management Indore (IIM Indore) Board of Governors (BoG) has reappointed Prof. Himanshu Rai as the Director of the institute for the second term of five years. The Chairman of BoG, Mr. M M Murugappan, expressed his confidence in Prof. Rai's leadership and contributions to IIM Indore. Prof. Rai's tenure will now be till December 31, 2028. Reacting to the important development, Dr Rai said, “I am humbled to be given an opportunity by the IIMI BOG to serve Indian Institute of Management for another terms of 5 years. It is an honor to continue this transformative journey, striving to lead the institute to new pinnacles of excellence and nation-building.”
Under his leadership, IIM Indore got the triple crown accreditation of AMBA, AACSB and EQUIS. The first CAT exam during Covid-19 pandemic – CAT 2020 was conducted by IIM Indore under his leadership on time without any change in testing mode at test centres, despite speculations about the postponement in the exam.
Dr Himanshu Rai is the Chairperson of the board of directors, Indore Management Association, Chairperson of the Advisory Board of Durban University of Technology Business School, South Africa, and Member, International Advisory Board of ESC Clermont Graduate School of Management, France. He is an independent director on the boards of several companies and advisor to several startups.
Himanshu also practices and teaches Yoga, and considers the Himalayas his spiritual abode. Passionate about mountaineering and trekking, he has scaled Kilimanjaro, Everest Base Camp, Rudragaira, Kala Patthar, Nagakarsang, Khatling and Chandrashila peaks.
An avid quizzer, Himanshu has conducted over a hundred quiz shows across the country and has had a stint in dramatics. He is a recipient of NTSE Scholarship, Infosys Fellowship, and LMA Outstanding Management Professional Award 2022, among numerous other awards and honours. He has also been adjudged as being among 25 most influencing voices from India by LinkedIn.
Dr Himanshu Rai joined IIM Indore as its director in December 2018. He is also serving as faculty at IIM Lucknow since 2016. Prior to this, he was the Dean of SDA Bocconi India campus, Professor at SDA Bocconi, Milan, and has taught at IIM Lucknow and XLRI. He had served over 8 years at Tata Steel where he played a pivotal role in developing Quality Systems and the Communication Policy for the Company. He is an alumnus of IIM Ahmedabad and KREC Surathkal. His book titled “Negotiation” published by McGraw Hill Education is a bestseller.
Established in 1996, IIM Indore is the sixth in the family of 20 Indian Institutes of Management. Since its inception, IIM Indore has been acting as a leader in the field of management education, interfacing with the industry, government sector and PSUs.
