3. IIM Nagpur MBA Admission 2026: Changes in Policy – Not to Participate in IIM CAP 2026

IIM Nagpur has decided to change its MBA admission policy 2026. Unlike previous years, IIM Nagpur will not participate in IIM Common Admission Process (CAP) 2026. Instead, it will conduct its own admission 2026 process.

Speaking with MBAUniverse.com, IIM Nagur Director Dr. Bhimaraya Metri said, “As a fastest growing IIM in India, IIM Nagpur would like to conduct its admission process on its own like IIMA, IIMB and IIMC. Hence, we have decided not to join either CAP 2026 or JAP 2026.”

4. IIM Nagpur Admission Process 2026: Overview  

The admission process at IIM Nagpur for the MBA batch of 2026-28 will be carried out in 3 stages. It will consider the candidate’s performance in Common Admission Test (CAT) 2025, Past Academic Performance (PAP), Work Experience (WE), Gender Diversity (GDI), and performance in Personal Interview (PI) and Extempore. Stages in IIM Nagpur Admissions 2026 Process

• Stage 1: In the first stage, candidates who have appeared for CAT 2025 will be first screened for eligibility as per the CAT cut-offs decided by the IIM Nagpur. Candidates who clear the IIM Nagpur CAT cut-off would be intimated by email and asked to fill an application form for IIM Nagpur.
• Stage 2: In the second stage, candidates who meet the CAT cut-offs and have filled the application form for IIM Nagpur within the deadline will move to Stage 2, where Shortlisting Score (SS) will be calculated for all such candidates. An SS-based shortlist will be generated to call candidates for Stage 3- Personal Interview (PI) and Extempore.
• Stage 3: In the third and final stage, candidates who appear for the PI and Extempore will be considered for this stage, where the Final Score (FS) will be calculated. Admission offers will be sent to the candidates based on their FS.

5. IIM Nagpur Eligibility Criteria 2026-28 (Stage 1)

IIM Nagpur CAT Cutoff 2025

IIM Nagpur will use CAT cutoffs (given in table below) for shortlisting candidates for the next stage of its admission process. The CAT 2025 score is the single criterion used by IIM Nagpur as the basis for arriving at the shortlist in this stage. Only candidates with positive scores (>0) in all sections of the CAT will be considered for the admission process. The candidates who appeared for CAT 2025 and meet the cut-offs (given below) would be receiving an email/communication from IIM Nagpur.

IIM Nagpur Application Form Filling 2026

Candidates who meet Cut off and receive invitation for admission process and will like to pursue their candidature further for admission to MBA at IIM Nagpur must fill the application form before the last date. Only those candidates who submit the completed application by the deadline will be considered for the next stage of the admission process.

The candidates need to submit a detailed application, including details and copies of all mark sheets (10th, 12th /Diploma and graduation, semester-wise / year-wise marks in Bachelors’ degree, etc., copies of work experience certificates (if applicable), certificate of disability (if applicable), Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe / Other Backward Class – Non-Creamy layer certificate, EWS certificate (if applicable).

6. IIM Nagpur Selection of Candidates for PI and Extempore process (Stage 2)

Only those candidates who meet the minimum CAT 2025 percentile requirements and have filled the IIM Nagpur application form by the stipulated date will be considered in Stage 2 of the IIM Nagpur admission process 2026.

The shortlisting of the candidates will be based on the candidate’s CAT 2025 score and gender diversity (details as provided in the CAT application form). Only those candidates who meet the criteria will be invited to take part in the Personal Interview (PI) and Extempore.

Invited candidates are required to complete the online application form, confirm their participation in the IIM Nagpur Personal Interview (PI) process. IIM Nagpur PI process will be conducted at Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and IIM Nagpur campus, with sessions scheduled in both forenoon and afternoon slots.

IIM Nagpur Personal Interview (PI) and Extempore Requirements

Candidates who have submitted the application form by the stipulated deadline and have been shortlisted for PI and Extempore in Stage 2 will be required to appear for the IIM Nagpur PI and Extempore. As part of the Personal Interview, candidates may be required to participate in a brief extempore exercise. The panel will provide a topic, followed by a short preparation time and a limited speaking duration.

7. IIM Nagpur Final Selection of the Candidates (Stage 3)

After the completion of the PI and Extempore, the Final Score (FS) of each candidate shall be computed as per the following weighted formula:
Final Score (FS) = 45% CAT Score + 20% PI Score + 5% Extempore Score + 6% PAP + 9% Work Experience + 5% Academic Diversity + 10% Gender Diversity

a. CAT (CAT) Score
The candidate’s CAT score, as mentioned below, will be used towards calculating the Final Score (FS).
CAT score = (Total CAT Score obtained by the candidate / Max. total CAT Score⁺) × 10
This is the maximum CAT score among the candidates who were eligible for the admission process in IIM Nagpur as per the Stage 1 criteria.

b. Personal Interview (PI) and Extempore Score
The performance of the candidates in the personal interview and Extempore test will be considered towards calculating the Final Score (FS). The score will be rescaled between 0 to 10.

c. Past Academic Performance (PAP) Score
Here, we evaluate the applicants’ academic performance (marks obtained) in the 10th Standard Examination, 12th Standard Examination, and UG examination. The eligible applicants, as identified above, will be assigned rating scores ‘A’, ‘B’, and ‘C’ (See Table 3.1–3.3) based on the percentage of marks obtained in their 10th standard, 12th standard, and UG examinations, respectively.

8. IIM Nagpur Final Admission Offer 2026

The selected candidates will receive provisional admission offers by email. To confirm the acceptance of the offer, the candidate has to pay an offer acceptance fee of Rs. 1,00,000, which will be subsequently adjusted towards Term I fees.

IIM Nagpur MBA fee for the batch of 2026-28 is Rs. 21,00,000, and the fee payable at the time of acceptance of the admission offer is Rs 1,00,000.

IIM Nagpur offers Merit and Need-cum-Merit scholarships to support meritorious students and those from economically weaker backgrounds, with 20 students receiving full tuition fee waivers for the two-year MBA program. In addition, the institute facilitates corporate-backed scholarships such as the K S Cheema Group partnership and enables access to multiple Central and State Government scholarship schemes.
