Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Sambalpur has welcomed the MBA, MBA (Business Analytics) and ExeMBA Class of 2026–28. IIM Sambalpur has admitted 311 students to the flagship MBA programme, 51 students to the MBA Business Analytics programme and 102 Students in ExeMBA program, taking the combined incoming cohort to 464 students. Compared to the previous year, the incoming MBA cohort demonstrates stronger professional diversity, with a higher proportion of candidates possessing prior work experience and a rise in average work experience.

Inauguration of MBA, ExeMBA and MBA-Business Analytics
The MBA 2026-28 and ExeMBA 2026-28 programs was inaugurated by Prof Mahadeo Jaiswal, Director, IIM Sambalpur along with the Chief Guest Mr Dinesh Arora, Advisor Leader, PWC on 30 June 2026 at IIM Sambalpur Campus. The inauguration of its 2nd batch MBA-Business Analytics was held at IIM Sambalpur Delhi Centre on July 7, 2026 with the presence of Mr Arka Haldar, Partner, BCG; Mr Rajdeep Sahrawat, ED, Deloitte and Mr Dviwesh Mehta, Director, Harvard Business Publishing.

A comparison of IIM Sambalpur’s current batch with previous batch reveals a notable shift towards greater professional experience while maintaining strong academic diversity. The proportion of students with prior work experience has increased from 69.9% to 85.5%, accompanied by an increase in average work experience from 17.9 months to 20.9 months. The average age of the incoming batch has also increased from 24.7 years to 25.2 years, indicating a more professionally mature cohort.
