IIM Udaipur MBA Batch 2025–27: Dominated by Male Engineers with Work Experience, Falls short on Diversity
The Indian Institute of Management Udaipur (IIMU) has welcomed 375 students to the 2025–27 batch of its flagship two-year MBA program. The batch shows a skewed profile with a high proportion of male students, engineers, and candidates with prior work experience, and scores low on diversity. IIM Udaipur MBA Batch Profile 2025-27
IIM Udaipur has admitted 375 students to its flagship two-year MBA program. Key highlights of the batch profile are as follows:
- Gender Diversity: The batch comprises 30% female and 70% male students
- Academic Diversity: Academically, 67% of the students come from engineering backgrounds, while 33% are from non-engineering fields.
- Candidates without Work Experience: 72% of the IIMU MBA Batch has prior work experience, while 28% are freshers
Unlike other IIMs, the IIM Udaipur MBA batch profile scores low on diversity with high concentration on Male, Engineering Students with Work Experience. By comparison, IIM Lucknow MBA Batch 2025-27 admitted almost 50 per cent students from non-engineering background. IIM Kozhikode MBA Batch 2025-27 has achieved an overall gender diversity of 51% women across its three full-time MBA programmes.
IIM Udaipur Welcomes MBA Batch 2025-27
IIM Udaipur recently inaugurated the 2025–27 batch of its flagship Two-Year MBA program. Mrs. Girija Subramanian, CMD, The New India Assurance Company Limited, was the Chief Guest. Prof. Ashok Banerjee, Director, IIM Udaipur, presided over the program.
Speaking on the occasion, Mrs. Girija Subramanian urged students to view their MBA journey not just as a path to academic excellence but as a transformative experience. She emphasised the need to master both management tools and real-world judgment. “When your ambition aligns with India’s future, you don’t just build a career—you build history,” she said. Mrs. Subramanian was the CMD of AIC of India (from September 2022) before assuming charge as CMD, New India Assurance.
In his address, Prof. Ashok Banerjee, Director of IIM Udaipur, congratulated the students and welcomed them to IIM Udaipur. He highlighted the newly revised curriculum. “Ask questions, be active, and make the most of your time here,” he advised, reminding them that this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to grow personally and professionally.
Prof. Vijayta Doshi, Dean, Programs at IIM Udaipur, shared three powerful mantras - Unlock, Uplift, and be Unstoppable. She urged students to unlock their potential, uplift themselves and their peers through meaningful collaboration, and carry forward the ‘Unstoppable’ spirit of IIM Udaipur. Prof. Ujjwal Das, Chairperson of the Two-Year MBA Program at IIM Udaipur, also urged the incoming cohort to embrace both the opportunities and challenges of the journey ahead. The inauguration ceremony also celebrated academic excellence with the distribution of awards for outstanding performance across the three terms of the first year.
IIM Udaipur holds 13th Annual Convocation
Earlier, IIM Udaipur had hosted its 13th annual convocation for MBA Batch of 2023-25, one-year full-time MBAs in Global Supply Chain Management and Digital Enterprise Management (Batches of 2024-25) and PhD on April 3, 2025. The Convocation Address was delivered by Mr. Amitabh Chaudhry, Managing Director & CEO of Axis Bank. A total of 452 students had graduated, including 1 PhD student, 328 students of Two-Year MBA (Batch 2023-25) and 123 students of One-Year MBA in Global Supply Chain Management and One-Year MBA in Digital Enterprise Management (Batch 2024-25).
Founded in 2011, IIM Udaipur is known for its focus on research and global outlook. IIM Udaipur ranks 4th in India for research in management, according to the UT Dallas methodology. IIMU was ranked in the Financial Times (FT) Global MIM Ranking 2024.
