JAGSoM holds 28th Convocation in Bengaluru, 355 Students Awarded PG Diplomas; Embrace Lifelong Learning, Integrity, and Dream Big

Jagdish Sheth School of Management (JAGSoM), the sixth B-school in India to receive AACSB accreditation in 2018, hosted its 28th convocation at Bangalore campus on May 25, 2024. At the convocation ceremony, Post Graduate diplomas were awarded to 355 graduating participants of the Class of 2024 from the programs PGDM Full-time and PGDM Executive. Mr. Supreet Sachdev - Office Managing Partner, KPMG was the chief guest of the ceremony.

Mr. Sanjay Padode, Founding President of Vijaybhoomi University & Co-Founder, JAGSoM presided over the convocation with Dr. Atish Chattopadhyay, Director of JAGSoM and Vice Chancellor of Vijaybhoomi university on the dais. Dr. Jagdish Sheth, Chairman of JAGSoM, and Dr. A. Parasuraman, Chairman of Board of Studies, JAGSoM joined virtually from the USA. Mrs. Kalpana Padode, Secretary of the Centre for Developmental Education (CDE), was among the dignitaries present.

JAGSoM Convocation 2024 Highlights

Award Winners: Dishti Sharma emerged as the program topper with a CGPA of 8.82 earning the Gold Medal. About 9 other top scorers were felicitated with Directors honour list including Bhavya Bipin Mehta, Gurram Chaitanya, and Mithun S, with a CGPA of 8.75, 8.66, and 8.63, respectively.

• Entrepreneurs: Emerging as a successful entrepreneur, Manoj Prakash of PGDM 2022-24 has founded Juventra Private Limited which offers a service of Waste Management and has received a Patent number for his invention in August 2023.
• Summer Placements: The PGDM batch of 2022-24 at JAGSoM, Bangalore campus achieved 100% summer internship placements, with 250 students engaging in the internship program provided by 144 companies.
• Scholarships worth Rs 1.27 crores offered: For this Graduating Class of 2024, JAGSoM offered scholarships worth more than Rs.1.27 crores to 23 participants, four of which received full scholarship covering tuition fee, boarding and lodging. This is the first of its kind Scholarship in India where boarding and lodging is also covered supporting those who are meritorious but economically challenged.
• International Rankings: To add to its crown, in the QS Business Masters Global Rankings 2024, JAGSoM has ranked 101+ Band for PGDM Marketing and Business Analytics, and 151+ Band for PGDM Finance.
• JAGSoM Final Placements 2022-24: In addition to above achievement, JAGSoM achieved strong placements for batch of 2022-24. According to JAGSoM, 91 recruiters were involved in the final placement process for JAGSoMs PGDM batch of 2022-24. Some of the prominent ones were Bosch, Wipro, Hexaware, Aditya Birla, NeoStats, HSBC and Bajaj. Check details below.

"Embrace Lifelong learning, Integrity, and Dream big!" says Chief Guest Supreet Sachdev
Mr Supreet Sachdev, Office Managing Partner of KPMG, was the Chief Guest for JAGSoM Convocation 2024. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Sachdev said, As a chartered accountant who never attended his own convocation, standing before you today at JAGSoM is a testament to the power of continuous learning and adaptability! Mr Sachdev added, My 28-year journey with KPMG has taught me that success isnt about titles or money, but the impact we create. Congratulating JAGSoM and the graduating students, he said, JAGSoMs emphasis on collaboration, integrity, and future-oriented skills equips graduates to not only navigate the complexities of the business world but to shape it.

Mr Sachdev joined the company in 1996, and ascended to Partner in 2007. He has played a pivotal role in scaling up the audit practice in India, serving as the Engagement Partner on large and intricate projects. He has held diverse leadership positions, including Location Head for Bangalore, Hyderabad & Kochi, and served as the Technology Leader for Audit.

Congratulating the graduating students, Mr Sachdev said, Students are the true stars of todays convocation. Embrace lifelong learning, act with integrity, and never stop dreaming big for the world is yours to create!
Earlier, in the opening address, Mr. Padode said, In this era of innovation and transformation, amidst the rise of AI technologies, embrace the challenges as they unveil exceptional opportunities. Let your vision be guided by the opportunities that stem from within, not from external voices. Listen to the whispers of your heart and mind, for therein lies the path to true success and fulfilment. Reflect, think, apply, imagine, ideate, be curious, and go and get the world.

During his closing remarks, Dr. Chattopadhyay presented the Annual report of 2024 where he highlighting the achievements by the institute. In his address to the students, Dr. Chattopadhyay said, My dear Class of 2024, todays rate of change is unprecedented. Just consider ChatGPT and other generative AI tools, which are releasing versions 10x, 50x, more powerful within months. This magnitude of change brings inevitable disruption, impacting all of us, including you. But consider yourselves fortunate because youve weathered two major disruptions: the COVID pandemic during your Bachelors and now the Generative AI revolution during your Masters. This resilience will serve you well in the VUCA world. He added, Remember that the tough get going when the going gets tough! Closing his speech, Dr Chattopadhyay said, Be rest assured, we will continue supporting you on this journey. Embrace social values like respect for elders and moral values like honesty. These shape your character and priorities.

JAGSoM Final Placements 2022-24 Updates
In addition to above achievement, JAGSoM achieved strong placements for batch of 2022-24. The placement strategy at JAGSoM focuses on involving recruiters through the Learning by Solving approach wherein the industry partners are involved through Requests for Problems which enables live industry projects, tailored to students chosen Career Tracks and Target Roles.

According to JAGSoM, 91 recruiters were involved in the final placement process for JAGSoMs PGDM batch of 2022-24. Some of the prominent ones were Bosch, Wipro, Hexaware, Aditya Birla, NeoStats, HSBC, Bajaj, etc. JAGSoMs flagship PGDM Program continues to be favoured by recruiters looking to recruit graduates who are industry ready to perform in their roles.

A salient trend this year has been the diverse nature of recruiters ranging from traditional sectors such as BFSI, retail and consumer goods to new age companies in MarTech, Fintech and Analytics domains. BFSI sector, with companies such as HDFC Bank, HDFC AMC, Infomerics Ratings, Brickworks Ratings, Star Union Daichi, Care Health Insurance, Digit, and CreditMoney etc. have been particularly active this year. Retail and consumer goods sector is represented by companies such as Aditya Birla Retail, Ola, and Bosch. New age companies such as Caspian Debt, Pixis and Whatfix make their debut into the list this year, so does Neostats, an analytics company.
