Offering a good opportunity to IIM Jammu aspirants to experience better learning with State of the Art Infrastructure in a larger and well equipped campus, the 200 acres IIM Jammu Permanent Campus will be inaugurated soon by None other than the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Confirming the news, Minister of Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India, Dharmendra Pradhan said, “A number of new educational institutions have come up in J&K. IIM Jammu is an example of this. IIM Jammu (IIM) was opened in 2016 in Jammu. Today I’ve inspected its new building. After a few days, the Prime Minister himself would dedicate this building to the nation. He will come to inaugurate it.”
The Minister of Education, Mr Pradhan addressed the students and discussed on the ViksitBharat@2047 initiative, a visionary programme aimed at shaping the educational and skill development landscape in India by the year 2047. Mr Pradhan personally reviewed the ongoing construction activities of IIM Jammu permanent campus which is expected to be ready soon for the inauguration by PM Modi.
IIM Jammu joins IIM Nagpur to Get Permanent Campus
Amongst the third generation 7 IIMs, IIM Jammu is the second IIM after IIM Nagpur to get the permanent campus ready. While IIM Nagpur campus is spread over 132 acres, IIM Jammu permanent campus is spread over 200 acres. Facilities offered at IIM Jammu new campus are well equipped Academic block, well equipped Library, Hostel building, Mess & Dining Block, Auditorium, Administration Building, Faculty Block, Activity Block, Sports & Recreation among others.
IIM Jammu Present Campus
Presently IIM Jammu is operating from the temporary campus at Government College of Engineering and Technology, Old University Campus, Kanal Road, Jammu, J&K – 180016. The permanent 200 acres campus of IIM Jammu is located at Jagati, 14 Kms. from Jammu City, about 16 Kms. from Jammu Railway Station and 18 Kms. from Jammu Airport. The estimated cost of construction of IIM Jammu campus is Rs.450 crores. The permanent campus will commence operation from the academic session 2024-25 and the classes for IIM Jammu MBA 2024-26 batch will be conducted at the new permanent building.
IIM Jammu Srinagar Campus: Permanent Off Campus
IIM Jammu has inaugurated its Srinagar Campus with an investment of Rs 55 crore to train people with the programs on the local horticulture, agriculture and processing industries. Besides, the campus offers them tailor- made management programmes and short-term courses. IIM Jammu has set up incubation centres both at Srinagar off-campus and at IIM Jammu campus to nurture entrepreneurship among students. Dr B.S. IIM Jammu is creating a strong presence in the industry and has recorded consistently rising placements for its MBA batch of 240 students. In placements 2023 IIM Jammu has registered average salary of Rs. 16.43 LPA and Highest salary of Rs.64 LPA. IIM Jammu participates in Common Admission Process (CAP) conducted for 10 IIMs for admission to its MBA, MBA-Hospital Administration and Health Care programs.
