Dr N.R. Parasuraman, Director & Professor – Finance, SDMIMD, Mysore has been appointed member of the EFMD Program Accreditation System (EPAS) Board. The appointment has been announced by the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD). Primary focus of the EFMD EPAS Board is to consider whether a programme meets the prescribed standards by evaluating the proposals along with Peer review reports presented to the Board for approval of accreditation status. Sharing his views with MBAUniverse.com on his appointment to EPAS Accreditation Board, Dr Parasuraman said, “I feel it is a great honour to have been included in this elite Board of an elite accreditation agency. It is, in my opinion, a vindication of what SDMIMD has achieved and what it stands for. We were the first to get EPAS accreditation in India and have been working hard to measure up to international standards ever since. It really is a special feeling to be the first from India to be appointed to the accreditation board.”
The prestigious appointment signifies the recognition to the high standards that SDMIMD has been maintaining. The words used in the EFMD website are “The EPAS Accreditation Board is composed of representatives of high profile organisations that are stakeholders in the quality improvement of management education”
EPAS Board presently comprises four representatives drawn from high quality institutions. The European Federation for Management Development (EFMD)’s – EPAS and Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) from USA have accredited SDMIMD programme making SDMIMD first institute in India to get the dual accreditation of ACBSP and EFMD - EPAS. These affirmations have brought SDMIMD among the top global Business Schools in the country.
SDMIMD is seeking re-accreditation from EPAS after complying with all the rigorous parameters and with a vision to focus on Research. According to Dr Parasuraman, “We are going in for the re-accreditation process of EPAS this year. Looking at the strategic aspects and based on on-going discussions with experts we have identified areas for focus in the ensuing years. One such area is the research management and support system for improving the quality and impact of research output.”

EPAS is an international programme accreditation system operated by the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD). It aims to evaluate the quality of any business and/or management programme that has an international perspective and, where of an appropriately high quality, to accredit it. The process considers a wide range of programme aspects including the market positioning of the programme nationally and internationally, design, programme objectives, Outcomes, Curriculum, depth & rigor, faculty quality, student quality among other key parameters.
