Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD), Mysuru has been awarded the highest level of 'Diamond' Rating among the management institutes of India by the QS- IGauge-India, the India specific rating agency for the Quacquarelli Symonds, London.
Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings and the Higher Education Institutes Ranking have universal acceptance across the world in the fraternity of higher education institutions, corporate employers and among the student community. Apart from SDMIMD Mysore, there are 21 institutes and universities in different categories which have been awarded the Diamond rating in India. They include Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai; Chandigarh University; VIT Vellore; O.P. Jindal University, Haryana among others. Other ratings awarded to various institutes and universities by QS- IGauge-India are Gold, Silver and Bronze.
Sharing his reaction on the award of Diamond Rating, Dr. N.R. Parasuraman, Director, SDMIMD Mysore said, “It is a matter of joy to have obtained the highest rating, following, the reaccreditation of EFMD earlier in the year, and the certification from BSIS on the good impact we are creating.”
It may be noted that recently, SDMIMD was also awarded the Business School Impact System (BSIS) certification by the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) in Jan 2020 and the EFMD Accreditation for the SDMIMD's PGDM program has been successfully renewed in Feb 2020 for a period of 3 years.
QS- IGauge Rating based on Several Parameters
The rating has examined several parameters relevant to management education and given that overall ranking based on an independent study. According to Dr. Parasuraman, “The process with QS IGauge was quite comprehensive and involved several parameters. We are heartened by the fact that a reputed external agency has recognized our performance and what SDMIMD stands for.”
5 Key Parameters that SDMIMD Team Worked Upon
To achieve the distinction of getting Diamond Rating, SDMIMD’s team has worked on the five following parameters in particular, says Dr Parasuraman. The parameters are:
- Internationalization of curriculum, pedagogy and exchange of students and faculty
- Greater thrust on research with an emphasis on practical decision-making
- Comprehensive outcome-based curriculum, involving rubrics and transparency
- A great Faculty team with a blend of academics and those with corporate experience

QS- IGauge Rating: Process & Methodology
QS I·GAUGE rating is awarded to all the Universities and Colleges across India. It works on on two types of data - Survey Data which is collected through respective surveys from students, faculty, and alumni of the institution, and Self-Reported Data which is submitted by the institution in a standardised format followed by QS I·GAUGE. While the self-reported data carries a weightage of 70%, the survey data carries 30% weightage in award of rating.
